It keeps track of each step it moves and when you exit the sim resets to zero. There may be some drift after time so you may need to rezero it periodically.
Boy This instrument looks soooo good compared to the piece of C__p of the first heading indicator. You just keep doing better and better and working harder and harder. Keep up the good work my friend.
hey Bob. I built quite all sixpack instruments(except turn coordinator) from your collection file. I am wondering how a software could find zero status condition on the airspeed indicator , vertical speed indicator and this altimeter cause of lack of indicators like hall sensors as you did on the attitude indicator or heading indicator.
Hi! The Airspeed and Turn Coordinator ball use a "slam zero". If you run it to both of it's extents the instrument will zero. Currently I have no way to trigger the slam zero sequence inside MobiFlight. The VSI and Airplane part of the turn coordinator does not currently have any zeros. I am considering putting in optical sensors but this is not a priority right now (the steppers seem to hold their zero reasonably well). I would like to revamp the Altitude to use only 2 steppers and maybe have a zero mechanism in that.
@@CaptainBobSim The first altimeter I built was the one from aleovalea downloaded at thingiverse. He uses only one stepper and uses a photo diode for zeroing the gauge at initiation but the bezel differs from your gauges. So I printet out another of your top bezels, changed thickkness of it so that the needles fit in with the acrylic glass. Now I have his altimeter working with your outer bezel layout. Disadvantage of his gauge is that the altimeter sets very slow to a specific given altitude or while nosediving
great Job CAPTAIN! my doubt is how attach wheel plate with hundred needle..? cause if i move the wheel , ( pression adjustment) will not affect my altitude..
@@CaptainBobSim thanks a lot!! but now have issue with Kollsman settings.. soon I connected and run, windows values disappears from my cockpit. SOLVE ! I set 0.338639 instead 33.86 for this preset was completely off..!! now going to set my MIP have tones of gauges all over.. lol
How do altimeter know zero position. I'm in, lets say you reset sim and respawn at runaway, can it go zero position or what?

Good advice on the easy things in life capt bob. I couldn’t agree more. :)
Thank you Dr. B! Too often we take them for granted!

Thank you Gerald! It's crazy to see how the designs have evolved over the years. I definitelly couldn't have made it to this level 3 years ago :)

It's all done in software - adjusting the altimeter setting changes the indicated altitude.
@@CaptainBobSim nicee!! Great Proyect!.. thanks a lot!!
I di😁d it! thanks again!!

Never say never, some of us now teach math, even though we did not get majors in it. Math for geologists.
True! You never Know what'll happen!
Hi, is it possible to use mobiflight in f18?
For MSFS and X-Plane yes
And can you in the latest episode show how to msfs, even just 30 seconds please
This video might help: ua-cam.com/video/houaC_SxdJo/v-deo.html
Just select F18 from the dropdown or use "Generic"
Hey Trevor, great video! Though I think you forgot to rename the video from your last episode!
Yep! Good catch! This week I 100% copy pasted last video's details, and forgot to make a few changes 😂
13:25 , put theses guys on theses guys ? 🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨
You are completely right - I need to be more clear, they could not be guys.
@@CaptainBobSim 🤣😂😂
