Mike Westbrook - Metropolis (Part IX)

I heard this on BBC Radio in the early seventies- I think the programme was Sounds of the Seventies. I hadnt listened to much jazz hitherto. This all suddenly changed with this . I bought Metropolis with my paper round money and the LP is still with me - about 10 feet way from me right now . The whole album is a broad sweep of British Jazz at the time - big band riffing, improv, great solos by great soloists, and more . But this track I still return to most, In fact more than most things. Thanks Mike, Harry and the rest of the guys

1970 and 1971. There was something in the atmosphere as Conflagration by Surman and Mike on Neon were created. Malachite and Metropolis
