It is not obligatory to buy metro tickets with cash, you can just pass by validating your international credit card.

Alexander Nevsky is a church. It is always open. The crypt is a museum

@@JakeBraymillerWelcome to Sofia. It is relaxed now becuase in the summer there is no one here. Everybody are by the seа or in the mountains. After 15th of September (kids start school) city will be full again. Enjoy your stay!

Sofia is alright, but it empties in summertime as people go to other cities, places, and countries.

Dude, this is not typical of Sofia. It is summervtime and you are traveling outside of peak hours. The gian building is Sofia University. If you go yo Serdika II station, you will see the permanent exhibit of some of the Roman ruins of Seruca

Why do people, especially from the United States pronounce Sofia incorrectly….

As a Bulgarian, living in Sofia - I can tell you , Sofia is the worst part of Bulgaria. I do understand the appeal it has to foreigners , you find charm in the things that usually piss of the locals. And this goes for every big city in the world.
The internet needs more travel vlogs that don't gloss over cities and show the reality.
    Yours is actually pretty accurate.

Looks very 80s, clean, no graffiti, no overweight people, no crazy homeless people, no garbage, calm, everyone looks relaxed.
    I wonder why that is

Good observations! Yeah it feels really old school. Noticed some of these things like graffiti and homeless people in some other parts of town. But overall is generally relaxed and calm

I lived 10-13 years ago near the church in the beginning. It was full with people using drugs and a lot of arab people. Now is worse :D

@bubachkobubachkov5519 It's definitely not worse, even though it's still a rough part of town. Nevertheless it's nothing compared to what they have in the US

You should have just walked straight ahead to the eponymous Saint Sophia Cathedral standing thete since at leadt V c. Why us it that no one bothers to see it? It is literally next to Alexander Nevsky. Most people also miss thevSt George Rotunda and the Serduca underpass.
