    I think we forget that due to (1) team's injury woes, (2) lacking in bigs & (3) Paige's high basketball IQ, she's taken it upon herself to help the team in that area. Geno is simply coaching her up.

      @@dajosee he already has this team playing at a high level with as you say what he's got. its been that way pretty much after the 3rd game. He totally has changed up his offense because of the lack of bigs. This may be his best job coaching over the past 10 years or so considering what he has to work with. Go to any team in the nation take there big away along with 2 wing players and a shooting guard who is lights out more often than not and see how they do. UConn is missing 6'5" Jana 6'2" Patterson 6'0 DuCharme Azzi and now Griffin. Any other team would fold like a cheap tent. now when they come up against a team like SC it will be tough because of there height but make no mistake this team is playing exceptionally well considering.

    love how Geno coaches. No problem calling out the best player on the team. What is up with the analyst. It's basketball 101 that you take the big off the dribble when they switch. That's why you run that action. At the end of a period it's one of the most common play calls. Screen by the big, get the switch and clear that side of the floor so your guard can take the big wherever they want to go

      Still, the big was was playing off and there was another big cheating her way in the lane. If she did blow by the first big, she would still have to deal with the rim protector, so it's not liike it was a free run first a layup. Paige saw that, almost certainly. I think she made the right decision because guards are a
      mismatch for her as well if she's shooting her J, she shoots right over the top. Still a good coaching opportunity for Geno and it's important for the team to see Geno come down on the star, that has an impact on the team. Let's also not forget Paige is shooting 49% from 3, so that's a good choice any time

    I don't have much regard when coaches who are paid millions of dollars a year savage AMATEUR players to media. By all means, rip a player in private if you need to. Aueriemma saying what he said to Bueckers was perfectly fine and no doubt appropriate. The best players want to be coached hard. But the comment he made to the reporter was not about coaching, it was all about his own ego. He was throwing his amateur young adult under the bus to express his frustration. He's a great coach but I call b.s. All he needed to say to the reporter was something like "She made a bad decision and I called her out on it. I expect she'll learn and do better." He didn't need to throw her under the bus to be comedy guy.

    • @jackwalker1822
      @jackwalker1822 8 місяців тому +4

      The reporter asked an honest question and got an honest answer. You think Paige is laying awake at night thinking How could he throw me under the bus like that? No, she got coached and moved on which is what players are supposed to do. She is used to the press talking all kinds of stuff about her. As for Geno, there is a reason he has more NCAA championships than any coach ever male or female and has so many ex-players playing pro basketball. He expects his players to play the way he coaches and if they don't he will tell them about it. Plain and simple.
