Hello Dan, it was a great session, I am working as Central Lab Data Manager here in India, much interested in CDM especially on Medidata Rave.
to answer question regarding if DM knows the protocol: If DM is involved in CRF design and database building, they absolutely know the protocol because the CRF is designed based on the protocol. DMs are also writing CRF completion guidelines, DMP which are also based on the protocol. And at times DMs even have input during protocol writing.

I shocked the doorman at my step in guru (was a super DM head) when I said I was a director of CPM at NVS HQ in Basel ‘what? YOU! ‘ I used to tell people I was a tea lady the campus is too big if you get locked out it’s a 2.1 km trek to front gate haha I mean I know I look like a tramp but I seem to do it well … now venturing into clinical data review hence helppppp I have tests

Could data manager screen shot the area in discrepancy and email or message the person responsible for addressing the query as evidence of the missing or incorrect information so there will be no arguments?
i believe they could but every cro has sop for communications
I’ve done it as a CRA to resolve last queries with no issue a long time ago but true communication should be def clarified prob more with PM etc than in comm plan
