- Two years on, a graphic and harrowing look behind the scenes at the Shifah Hospital in Gaza during the seven weeks of Israeli attacks in July and August 2014.
The Shifah is Gaza's biggest and oldest medical facility and the dead and injured were brought there day and night during almost two months of bombardment by Israeli forces.
Thousands also took refuge in and around the hospital while Palestinian medics often put in 30 hour shifts.
The conflict in Gaza in the summer of 2014 claimed 2,220 lives, two-thirds of whom were civilians. Over 11,000 more were injured and many of these were treated at the Shifah Hospital.
Space, medicines, equipment and beds were all limited, power cuts frequent and the Out Patients department took a direct hit.
Here, cameras record the suffering, chaos and distress - and we hear from Dr Mads Gilbert, a Norwegian anaesthetist and trauma expert.
A frequent visitor to the Shifah until his ban by Israel in November 2014, Gilbert brings desperately needed supplies - but also joins the Palestinian doctors in the constant, brutal decision-making about which patients should live and who should be left to die.

I met Dr Mona El Farra in Sheffield England tonight. She told me that the hospitals need blood storage bags so that people can donate blood, both for trauma patients and for mothers who hemorrhage while giving birth. Also,every kind of medication is in short supply. Kidney dialysis equipment is also much needed.

The world is waking up and finally paying attention to this crisis. I hope it’s not too late to save those who are left 😔 So many people and homes lost over so many decades. It shames me that it was happening and I didn’t even know. Free Palestine 🇵🇸

i am absolutely disgusted by what these war criminal israelis are doing to these people. they are trying to wipe them out. the children i feel so bad for them. they didnt ask for this. the doctors who risk their lives working there helping where they can are amazing. bless them. i know this is a few years old but gaza is still suffering. when they cried it broke my heart

I havent watched anything in a long time that brought actual tears to my eyes.. after 35 mins.. after that bombing so close.. to see 1st hand the terror that these innocent ppl are suffering is unbelievably heart breaking... i dont care what started this conflict ppl should not be suffering like this...

Can someone give me a neutral rundown of what exactly Palestine and Israel are fighting for? It can't still be over how Israel took over Palestinian land? That happened over 60 years ago, why are the young generation still fighting their grandparents war and suffering and paying this price? We have to learn to live in peace with each other because this is the only land we are given to live on.
