sweet man. i keep coming back to explore the uConsole, i think we have to be articulate enough on some level to appreciate why its so good. i do not know CAD yet but can appreciate that designing the housing alone is serious work. Then there's the price, cmon man. I definitely need to buy one it seems like everything you need and more for a hackable, strategically low power system. great job!
Thank you for your service! I haven't received my uConsole yet but I was planning on plugging in a SDR and GPS on it. Your videos definitely inspired me to make it look more integrated. By the way, since you can 3D print, design a flap using the same hinge as the existing stand. The GPS tucks in the back when you don't need it. Flip it up when you do.
These videos are so good! I just installed an RTL-SDR v4 in my uConsole by following your last video and it's awesome. Even though I managed to rip off the solder pad for the SMA connector when trying to desolder it. Actually by coincidence I just bought one of those GPS's that you're using in this video, maybe I need to attempt another mod.

I think realistically the CM5 will have a different footprint. It's possible that clockwork will release a personality or adaptor board for it, but that's no guarantee. They might even do making the device altogether 🤷

I had to check my emails to see that I actually had ordered it 🤣 So I'm not really sure on there order to delivery times or if they've got any better 😃

Why didn't you just use the uart connection? it seems you've done this the hard way. Parsing gps data is fairly straightforward. That is also the most expensive raspberry pi I've ever seen.
@1nico517 it's tempting to make a plastic back. The metal case is cool, but I'm not sure it's really an advantage over plastic, other than being cheaper to machine than the tooling for an injection mould

I think we need to come up with some interesting use cases. For example, using the SDR and GPS APIs or command line programs to allow you to look for a frequency on a transmitter and drive around to triangulate it!

You can also try the SenseCAP Card Tracker T1000-E, no need to connect it by USB, works off bluetooth.

Step on that GPS and brake the case now mount it internal
There's almost certainly no external antenna port on the GPS receiver, and the signal will be ruined inside an aluminium box without one.
