I got mine on the 4th of March. A week later I upgraded the NvMe drive to 2 tb, the SSD to 8 tb and the ram to 64 gb. The upgrades went well & I cloned the NvMe drive with macrium. When I put it all back together, there was no sound from the speakers. I still got sound with bluetooth & headphones, but no speakers. I had to do an RMA & send it to MSI at my expense with shipping & insurance. Not happy after spending all of that money on upgrades. The 8 tb SSD cost me as much as the laptop. I took all of the upgrades out before sending it in, though. And I did buy mine from Excaliberpc & they were great. No shipping & they didn't charge me sales tax because I'm in Texas. The salesman told me that they don't charge sales tax to anyone out of California. That was a surprise.
Why on earth could you possibly need an 8tb ssd and 2tb hard drive in a laptop? Why would you spend more on upgrades than the cost of the device itself?? Why didn't you just build a pc for all that cost and time???

It is always best to match the memory modules. Take out the 8GB you have and look at the model and google it to see if you can find another one amazon or ebay. It is the more affordable option, rather than buying a whole new 16GB kit. Also, you can generally mix ram modules with little issue, but there is an increased potential for there to be issues, but honestly, those are rare. I threw together a budget system for a friend and mixed 3 different brands of RAM sticks and it has been fine for almost 3 years...anecdote, I know, but still a valid observation.

Thanks now I know I don't have to disconnect the battery just need some rubber gloves.
i have a msi thin gf75 10scsr-001jp could i do the upgrade??
Hi anh Trung
Yes, you can do it
@@db-channnel could you give me some recommendation for the ram and ssd plzzz
@@db-channnel i want to upgrade to 2 tb and 32gb ram
After you installed the new 1tb ssd, is your new storage 1.5tb or 1tb? The two ssd are installed, so is their storage combined?
Hi Aser Abdelfata Attia
Yes, its combined and is around 1.2T for the moment
Hi there! do you think the mounting bracket is totally necessary for installation? the SSD doesn't seem super securely in there. I don't have a bracket and talking to MSI support about it is taking a long time for them to get back to me.
Hi Matt
I made a bit mistake during the mounting bracket, but the SSD does not have any problem because it is inserted properly.
Thanks for the comment, feel free to ask anything else 😊
@@db-channnel Thanks for the reply! I think my question may have been unclear. Do you think I can get away with installing the SSD without a mounting bracket since MSI is being slow?
@@ThePCPpanda No, you can't let just so without bracket. Please find a bracket and insert properly your SSD. I hope im clear in answer.. if you have any question just write again, i'm here to help.
@@db-channnel Very clear! thank you
Does the m.2 slot support NVMe drives as well as sata?
Hi
From where I can buy msi gf75 motherboard online please?
HI! what do you mean by short circle? do you mean by ESD? and if so, for ESD to happen is only minimal right? Thanks for the vid!
@hazerxx Hi
Yeah, it can be minimal to happen i just do it so for safe reason. Some others didn't do that.
Thanks for the comment, feel free to ask anything else :D
@@db-channnel thanks! May i know the size of the screwdriver you used? The screw size should be the same as other GF75 thin model right?
@@hazerxx Yes, the screw size should be the same like other GF75 models
@@db-channnel okay last one! Sorry for asking so many questions. Can i use 2 different ram capacity, for etc, 8 gb ram + 16 gb ram, or both capacity need to be identical
@@hazerxx No problem, feel free to ask everything you want.
First you have to know what capacity of RAM support your device. But what is important you should know what mhz is your RAM, the mhz should be the same.
In my case RAM is 2666mhz and i bought 16x2 GB Ram 2666mhz.
for how long i have to press the EC buttom for the battery?

what does reseting the ec thing do?
Thank you for the video!
I have never done this but will this work on Model GF75 Thin 10SCXR-003 ?
using same DDR4 DRAM 2400MHz and Samsung 1TB V-NAND SSD?
Hi Kaitlyn Jiyeun Chu
This works in all model GF75 Thin but the RAM mhz is 2666mhz not 2400mhz
Feel free to ask for another concern.
Thanks for the comment 😊
@@db-channnel so if I replace the ram module with 2400MHZ will not work?
Hi Alan Gonzáles
RAM mhz must be the same
@@db-channnel can you keep the Rami wich its coming with the laptop and you can add 8 gb more of crosair with same 2666 mhz ? or have to be both crosair ?
Alexandru S go with 2 corsairs to be safe
I have problem. I have upgraded my gf75 with 2tb HDD and now my laptop has fps drops. I can't play any game installed on HDD and on SSD. What is the reason of this?
Lol. IF you are useless. Go to repair store
Don't forget the 2 screw on the buttom from the bracket ✌🏻🫡
I've solved that, Thanks
Why do you have to press the ec rest?
Hi what is the RESET EC. Is it necessary?
Hi Akkün
"Reset EC" is to cut-off power from the battery to avoid any damage from the short-circle! My suggestion is to "Reset EC", and if you do so don't forget after you all done to plug in the AC power adapter on the notebook, because the battery power is cut off by "Reset".
Thanks for comment, feel free to ask for anything else 😊
@@db-channnel so after I plug the power adapter, it will return to normal?
@@akkunzero Yes, of course!
@@db-channnel Last question, how many seconds should I hold the Reset EC?
@@akkunzero About 10-15 seconds
Thanks for the comment, feel free to ask anything else 😊
Brilliant video! just have to ask - is it necessary to press the EC button in even when upgrading the RAM? just a matter of curiosity. excellent video once again!
@Ben Harrison Thanks Ben that you like the video 😊
I did that only to avoid any damage from the short circle that can happen. If you do so, don't forget to plug in AC adapter after you done work.
Thanks for the comment feel free to ask anything else 😊
@@db-channnel one last question! When replacing the storage system, do I need to transfer windows over to that storage system? Do I need to buy a new license? Or will windows automatically recognise the storage unit? If that makes sense 😅
@@BenNBenInc I've didn't change the main SSD I've just upgrade the storage.
For you question if you want to change the main SSD storage where Windows is installed then you have to clone your actual SSD you have in your laptop, and fearing to lose anything in your storage the answer is No. You dont need to buy a new license and you don't need to worry of losing anything.
You can clone your storage with this program than is free edition:
Macrium Reflect

Is there a way to upgrade the graphics card to something more powerful?
Hi
Yes, you can upgrade the graphic cards
No, on this MSI in the video, the GPU or "graphics card" is soldered on to the motherboard and cannot be replaced. There are some laptops that have replaceable graphics cards, but they are rare. The form factor for these graphics cards is called MXM. It is often found on bigger workstation type laptops, like HP's Zbooks. There were some gaming models that had it, too....but you don't see those any more, unfortunately.
How many m.2 slots does it have?
i think it has a combo mounted it looks like its mounted on top of eachother and its mounted in the top slot
can you put faster ram on this? and if so can you xmp

If my GF75 already had an 8GB ram, and bought another 8GB ram does it make it 16 GB?, or do I have to buy the same brand Of ram to make 8 GB to be 16? Thanks
Buy the same brand and speed
It is always best to match the memory modules. Take out the 8GB you have and look at the model and google it to see if you can find another one amazon or ebay. It is the more affordable option, rather than buying a whole new 16GB kit. Also, you can generally mix ram modules with little issue, but there is an increased potential for there to be issues, but honestly, those are rare. I threw together a budget system for a friend and mixed 3 different brands of RAM sticks and it has been fine for almost 3 years...anecdote, I know, but still a valid observation.
