St. Valentine Church in Alpe di Siusi, Dolomites, Italy:
Located above the village of Siusi, in the hamlet of San Valentino, this church sits in front of the majestic Sciliar Massif.
The church is known for its beautiful frescoes dating back to the 14th and 15th centuries. One of these frescoes depicts the Three Magi against the backdrop of the Alpe di Siusi landscape.
Originally consecrated to Saint Valentine of Rome (San Valentino da Terni), it was rebuilt in the 15th century. The late-Gothic winged altar and painted choir add to its historical charm.
Legend has it that a bell, known as “The Bull of San Valentino,” protects the inhabitants from severe thunderstorms.
