- A brief observation of "The Glitch Room" in Fez, which I found to be a curiously intriguing piece of programming, especially once the first person camera mode was unlocked.
Fez was originally released on April 13, 2012 by Polytron Corporation. It is available on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC. I intend no copyright infringement and am simply uploading a section of the game that I found noteworthy.

this room scared me when i was a kid
I forgot to use the first-person view in this room. It looks awesome.
Lots of indie games like this never see much else backing them, they become magic little examples of loyalty to their craft, singular and unique. This room is one of a kind reserved to this game, and work was even put into the music so I'm starting to think that the abyssal feeling of it could possibly reflect those doubts.
This is just the RAM of the computer simulation Fez is ran on
I hadn't considered that association. Excellent!
This glitch level design isn't 'weird', or connected to Fez's back-story; as each level represents a nostalgic gaming format (the 4-color level represents CGA monitors from old PC's, there's a GameBoy stage in shades of green and VirtualBoy level in shades of red) -
There used to be a known NES glitch, whereas the game would totally mess up the stage due to dust on the cartridge, resulting in the system scrambling tiles from the entire game.
Usually resolved by ejecting the cartridge and blowing air into it to clean the dust, this serves as an inspiration to this level in Fez
Dror Shem Tov Is there any known footage?
1. "Weird" is subjective, 2. what makes you so sure it's not connected to Fez's backstory? And 3. which NES game are you even talking about?
@@ThewOrldIssqUareevery game cartridge does that when having dust and being inserted (i think)
It's good to know Phil Fish got in at the ground floor of the "accessibility in games" discourse by giving Fez an area that probably gave people seizures.
What an awesome game. Also in the music you can hear Sync and Beacon primarily, and I love it.
Fish is trying to give us a dam seizure.
underrated room
Ah, I love Fez
Truly a masterpiece
Video compression does not like the glitch room, too many moving objects.
If you think the video compression here is bad, you probably haven't seen the compression on the 32 Cubes ending...
Great ending to the video lol
POV: Minecraft grid block
Wow, trippy! :D
Fascinating.
Man, i wanted to do something like this on my game, guess not.
aaaand thare gose my brain
What block this is this on the map
Any tips on how I can get through this room without the game dying after like 2 inputs?
Get a better device?
