      In my personal opinion, this is why the last Jedi is the best of the sequels, because I believe Rian truly does understand and love Star Wars and he didn’t make the movie he thought people wanted to see but the movie he wanted to make, which itself pays homage to many things because he is a true fan of cinema in his own right. I know a lot of people don’t like what he did with Luke, but I personally love it because it was not what I expected and by the end of the movie it made total sense the way Luke saved the day in his own old man Jedi way using the force and only the force. I personally found JJ Abrams just seem to lean far more towards making what he thought people wanted to see and just overloading everything with fan service.
      Again, this is just my personal opinion and I’m sure many many people disagree with me but I feel like this resonates and aligns with what Carrie is saying here.

      @@PeteOliva Johnson fundamentally does not understand Star Wars. Luke redeemed Vader if anything he would be 100% convinced he could turn Kylo, not “see you around kid” and taunt his own nephew. Plus making Luke Skywalker pull his lightsaber out to kill a kid is just the most insane decision I have ever seen, never mind it’s his own nephew it’s a sleeping kid who was struggling. Nothing in any of the movies shows Luke is like that so it was up to TLJ to show us how he changed into a person who would do that.... it didn’t even try.
      This isn’t even talking about how somehow the resistance is now only the people left at a rebel base and the entire galaxy has bowed down to the first order which as far as we know is only the people chasing the resistance as they never once call for a ship to just cut off the resistance....
      Making Rose explain to somebody who was kidnapped as a child and raised in a fascist militaristic army that “both sides are the same” is just so insanely tone deaf and off base I don’t know wtf RJ was smoking.
      Rose had such an amazing first scene with her clearly not being a “soldier” like her sister willing to sacrifice herself but still loyal and stopping people from running away including somebody who she thought was a hero till 2 secs ago and she still stops him.
      The less said about the Holdo manoeuvre the better.
      TROS was a dogshit movie but genuine question, where did you see the story going after episode 8? It didn’t leave a lot to go off. The first order is now apparently in charge of the galaxy and the resistance is maybe 30-50 people. Kylo Ren has already been beaten twice at this point so he wouldn’t be a threat unless there was some mcguffin to make him more powerful. If Hux would have killed Kylo at the end of 8 that would have been interesting. A non force user being a main villain for once?

    • @PeteOliva
      @PeteOliva 2 роки тому +8

      @@decrulez I *fundamentally* disagree with your notion that Rian doesn’t understand Star Wars, and I think my beliefs is reinforced by the content in The Director and the Jedi. I’m not even looking to argue that point. I have already made up my mind and considered all the evidence for years now, I have my feelings about Last Jedi. Hell, I actually just watched it a couple of nights ago.
      However, TROS is in my view the weakest movie in the entire Star Wars saga, so at least we can somewhat agree there, ha ha. I cannot stand JJ Abrams, he is a cheap director that relies on fan service and surface level content and I think he was bad for Star Wars.
      I personally think Luke would have continued to appear to Rey. He would have become a more powerful ally to her, tutoring her much like Obi-wan did Luke. I saw her dark side, however, continue to become a threat. I would have liked them to explore this conflict within her and actually I saw her turning dark and Kylo actually turning light earlier. And in the end, he should have been the one to turn her from dark to light and not the other way around. Rather than have Palpatine come back the way he did, after Snoke was extinguished I would have rather it been revealed that Snoke was actually the reincarnation of Plageius, rather than Palpatine, who is actually who the Sith cultists had been trying to resurrect rather than Palpatine.
      Palpating returning was to me the biggest mistake of TROS. I’d rather Rey remained no one, as that would have more aligned with what Rian set up.
      I never minded her taking the Skywalker name though (which I’m sure you likely hate), that was one of the few things in the movie that made
      sense to me.

She’s notably below average when compared to other film heroines, but is pretty average compared to regular people. I’m not trying to shit on her or her legacy, I just take issue with your claim that she was “drop dead gorgeous” because that’s a powerful claim and it’s about physical beauty specifically. Many might say you're average in the azzhole department, and I'd say you're a top notch azzhole. Not charming for sure. You don't even have personality or acting skills, unless acting like an arrogant azzhole counts. You're notably above the average person on the azzhole scale, and a POS compared to regular people. I'm not trying to sh!t on the legacy you don't have, I just take issue with you ranting about someone having a subjective opinion. I'm sure I could find you to be an azzhole for other reasons, but this comment, tells me enough.
      Seriously, having the audacity to tell someone their idea of beauty is incorrect, is arrogant, narcissistic, and petty. And to rant about it that long, shows an ugliness inside of you. Then you have the nerve to tell her rest in peace after trashing her appearance, which says even more about you. The one thing the internet does well, is expose people for who they are. @@jeremyfields9009 you are crazy... This is a scifi movie. Now a days the prequeñs make star wars. Yes Jar Jar was pointless charcter just for kids but everything else was well made

    • @jeremyfields9009
      @jeremyfields9009 2 роки тому +1

      @@christianrivera5694 The prequels don’t make up current Star Wars. Actually Disney does their best to stay away from the prequel era. Rogue One, Solo, Jedi Fallen Order, Rebels, Kenobi(even though Hayden and Ewan is in it) Andor, Star Wars: Squadrons, Bad Batch, and Jedi: Survivor all take plaice during the rebel vs empire era. Hell Mando, and Book of Boba are more influence and use characters from the original films. You prequel fans are delusional as hell.

    • @christianrivera5694
      @christianrivera5694 2 роки тому +4

      @@jeremyfields9009 Solo flop, Rebels is aweful in comparison with clone wars, Kenobi has 3,000 plotholes and bad written characters, also Disney created the worst movies which they flopped harder and harder in the box office. Disney killed all of your beautiful empire era characters.
      Prequels created games like star wars battlefront 1 and 2 classics and moern, prequels cretaed jango fett and the clones, prequels revived Yoda and went into politics like WARS have, prequels show the human side of vader and have better fight scenes and cgi thatn the first 3 movies. In the prequels you have droidekas, lots of jedis and different cultures... u are Dreeeaming if you think disney is making star wars they are ruining it. Boba fett series also flopped and only mandalorian was successful and guess what? Written by the clone wars series guy which introduced clone wars characters :)
