In June Thijs was over at Amon Tobin’s place in LA for a studio session. This is one of the tracks that came out of that session, it was pretty much completely done in 3 days. It was made in a dark place, infused with love for 808 electro, breakbeats, old crusty synthesisers and samplers, alternate tuning scales, and Mezcal & Tonic on the rocks.

my love for noisia is unfathomable, I can already picture Thys using this track to build some mad spooky atmosphere during one of his rip genre sets
He did that exactly this weekend at grape festival. Honestly his rip genre part was a bit boring. Nobody knew how to dance to it. What he did was that he escalated/built up a few tracks tracks into nothing. At one time, part of the crowd even started to sit down. I am not sure to this day if it was because of boredom or everybody get down low type of sitting because of 15 minute long buildup. Noisia guys are one of my favourite music producers and I respect their decision to promote what they like but I think that Martijn's sets represent Noisia better of what they do. It seems that Thijs usually don't read crowd and mix only what he prepared at the hotel. That's not DJ set.
That's because Thys plays what he wants, and since he's more into this type of stuff, it makes sense he uses tracks like these in his sets to build tension, and a 15 minute buildup is actually great imo because he also drops some wild stuff after the intros
He did this when I saw them (it was only him) in December. Was pretty cool though actually, after 1.5 hours of throwing down it was pretty nice to have 10 minutes to relax and just chill to the music. Then everyone sat down he finished off with that Tentacles remix, pretty dope.
It's not bad I guess but it kills the vibe. I've experienced this just too many times during Thijs sets. Martijn on the other hand knows exactly when to play a smoother track.
Almost any DJ can rock a party. Not enough DJs get weird.

I recreated the beat in the proper tempo (in this case 130bpm) using music notation from some random website. What I said in the original comment is correct: 2nd last kick comes a 16th note early and last kick falls on the last quarter note. At 0:29 you can use the "hi-hats" as 16th notes and count them between each kick. Either way having a kick coming in jussst slightly early gives the song such an on edge feel. Very cool.

Yep, that definitely stays the same... the false impression might be partly due to the fact that Noisia sometimes let the beat run normally, and sometimes rigged it like that. So we don't really get used to this anomaly. And it's crazy when you think that this (very major) detail of the song's uniqueness can be achieved by just pressing a different button in the "drum note window". And that I've never heard something like that before, except maybe Aphex Twin who goes nuts with... everything
@@CJHan I know where it all comes in after playing it relentlessly over and over. It feels so right on point, but only after letting it sink all the way in. They did a job on this one for sure.

Gabriel Esper No, Doubleclick left Two Fingers after the first album (2009). So it's only Amon Tobin on Stunt Rythms (2012) and in the others releases that came after that.

So wonderfully dark. Wasn't a huge fan of Cleansing, but this is amazing
I'm not leaving. I'm sticking around, out of respect for being a fan now for almost 10 years, and the joy you've provided and the countless hours spent listening to your music. I've evolved as you have, I've liked everything up to Outer Edges. Since then. you're just so different its like I'm listening to a different producer. It feels like you've lost your way slightly. The imagination and the production is still there, but the noisia magic is not.
