There's a ton that goes into making and releasing music, but if you're new to it I'd recommend on focusing on a few simple things:
1. Pay for great artwork. It might be more expensive than the budget option and seem like a lot of money at the time, but you only get 2 shots at getting new people to click on your music; the title/band name, and your artwork. Don't throw away an easy opportunity to be discovered!
2. Pay for great recording quality. The best songwriting in the world will perform worse than 6/10 songwriting that has 10/10 production. Ideally you have both, but production quality is something you can easily control by doing your research.
3. For every 1 hour you put into practicing your instrument, put 2 hours into learning a useful skill. Best case scenario, your band takes off in a year or two and enjoys several years of successful touring, but that is very rare (and even most "successful" signed artists often earn less than minimum wage when you factor in the hours they work). It normally takes 6+ years for bands to get a legitimate head of steam and start generating enough revenue to survive on. In the meantime, you need to be able to put food on the table. So learn photoshop, video production, editing, illustrator, or anything along those lines to earn money while your music isn't. (This also saves you money by allowing you to make your lyric videos in house, for example, or shoot your own promo photos).

Vocally, Joe and Tyler pull from all over the place, from Envy on the Coast, Tyler Carter, and ADTR on the clean side of things to old Hail to the King, Whitechapel, Enterprise Earth, and Black Tongue on the harsh end. As far as listening goes, it ranges from rap and hip hop to deathcore, posthardcore, and everything in between! We try to keep the influence diverse so we don't wind up doing the same couple of things when writing.
