I enjoy all your vids. My favorite ones are where you compare two models and point out all the differences between them. I'd like to see more of those when possible Oh and more inside info videos with your opinion on whats going on in the bike industry.
Do you know if Specialized has a special tool to remove that aluminum housing where the bearing seats so I can use a one piece bottom bracket>? I don't want to use a hack saw like what other UA-cam channel did to remove it. Thanks
So am I allowed to remove and clean my own BB bearings now? My mechanic told me I am not allowed to work on my own bike any more. 😆 😂 Great video! Very simple once I see you do it and walk through the steps with the correct tools. Thanks GC!!
Hi GC! This video was really helpful to me; thanks a lot! One question: You didn't really show what you do on the non-drive side where there is the pre-load ring with the 3 tiny screws. You just kind of slammed on the cranks and tightened a lot through the spindle, but what do you do with the pre-load ring, and in which order do you tighten the pre-load ring vs. the main spindle?
So in this case there was no need for the preload screws. This frame didn’t need them, but I have ran into it and with this case, just tighten them slowly and evenly until there is no play
@@GCPerformance18 thank you for a great video! still having a bit of a struggle to get the pre-load ring properly adjusted. it is either a bit of a play or too hard/tight. tweaking the tiny screws like a 1/4 turn until tight. they seem to loosen every ride i do as well. what am i doing wrong??? new bike???
@@GCPerformance18 Won’t the aluminum lip on the cups be in that way? Or can you knock the cups out by tapping them out? The 2011-2014 Specialized carbon frames had these cups glued in I believe.
Do you put any lubricant on the frame shell or the outside suffice of the bearings before installation and if yes what kind? You mentioned that you put lubricant on the spindle before installation again again what kind do you recommend. And last do you put lube on the outside side wall of bearing after installation before you put the outside spacers? Thank you

are they the cups that are moving or the bearing? if its the bearing then yes you can try putting some loctite on the bike and then press in the bearing, but I would try to refrain from using that, or if you are not using there specialized cranks, maybe try a metal bottome brakcet you shove in there, like if is shimano crank you can run a wheels manufactorer in there
