It's not the least expensive option, but the XC40 recharge sure is a pleasure to drive.
Underrated channel.
I have the xc40. The center display can show google maps. It doesn’t have to be blank.

You can press the little camera symbols while in the 360° "bird's eye" view and you'll switch to backup camera, side, etc. :)

Really minor quirks...change is always called quirky until you get use to it...
I test-drove the XC40 on 11 Nov 2021, so a little later than you did. It seems that Volvo updated their system to now show the remaining range in KM on the main screen of side display. At least, the car I test-drove showed it.
I wouldn't want the XC40 but the C40 (like a coupé version of the XC40), though I haven't made a final decision yet. Hopefully the problems you've addressed with the charging curve/speed has been addressed by then.
The motorcycle is taking the path of maximum view and minimum sharp turn ... you go wide to the outside before entry into the bend. Not unlike the racing line through turns on a track to pass the apex with a smooth route through the curve
