The commentator mistakenly thinks that the couple has a disconnection at 1:34 min but the second commentator was correct in pointing out that she disagreed and that she thought it was a continuation of the move. Looking at the move in slow motion, it was obvious that it WAS part of the routine that there is no way to keep a connection with the move that Luda was expected to perform.
No unfortunately it was indeed a misconnection. That move could definitely be performed with the hand still connected. It's a common pattern in social dancing and knowing how Oliver / Luda choreographs, it made the hand look awkward either way. They're too precise to allow any ambiguity. They're such pros that they're misstep are rarely glaring ones.
