👍🏾🫵🏾Great work my brother. Your greatest assets in this industry are your high level of professionalism and your talent for dealing with people. Having a great personality like that can’t be copied or faked.
Great video! I also added a Westcott X-Drop backdrop setup to my kit for those who want a nuetral background. Its compact and lightweight, so its easy to have on hand. The Flashpoint lightstands are pretty sweet too!
Oh nice! Do you have a link for that so I can check out? I have a not so great backdrop setup that I don't like to bring anywhere so that's something I would be interested in. Thanks for watching!
Hey Andre I am a huge fan. Your lessons and very straight forward and easy to digest. I have been trying my hand trying to generate RE photo business with no luck. Is this truly a viable career field?
Thanks so much! Definitely think it is. I, and may others are proof of that! I do think being versatile is a must nowadays as in being about to offer a real estate agent or team everything! Listing photos, videos, social content, portrait/lifestyle photography, marketing videos, headshots, and the list goes on. Offering only one key thing like RE photo, was really doable as a business 10 years ago when all the other branding stuff wasn't be done much. And to only have a business on RE photo, you need a good amount of clients so that takes awhile. I'd recommend joining my community as there's others in your same position starting out! Thanks for watching!
Great video, thank you. I'm not sure if someone already mentioned this, but the light stand link is not correct. Can you please share the correct link?
Hey Andrei! If I just wanted to do a walk through video - like a video property tour where I just walk around and show the property without any cuts, can I just use auto white balance? Wasn’t sure if you can do a property tour on a camera like you can on a smartphone.
That's probably your best bet! Having Auto WB and Auto exposure somehow since WB and exposure will change from room to room. Exactly, just like a mobile phone would do it!
My question to you, Andrei, is this for someone starting out in real estate photography. How did you construct your real estate business model (or matrix)? My dream work day is to only work within a particular county (after all, I lack the superhuman power of the Flash). So I will need a business plan that keeps me close to what I promised to my clients expectations. So for instance, a photoshoot is done on Monday and it's promised that shoots will be delivered 2 business days out on Wednesday; while more photos are taken for a different client with their shoots delivered on Thursday, and so forth? How do you stay organized?
Hey! Bunch of good questions here. It definitely didn't happen overnight, 3 years in my actual business model, and it's finally a pretty well established business model! Haha. When I first started, I just did my best to connect with local realtors through any connections I had, produce the best work I could, and repeat over and over again. For organization like that, I recommend using a real estate based CRM. We use Aryeo where clients can request and book shoots and everything else you need. After you get to the point where you can't handle it all like I am, you start to bring on shooters, editors, admins, and so on to help keep running your business! You should also think about joining my community! being able to chat with other RE shooters just starting out or running their own business could be a huge help for you. It's on my website if you're interested! andreirestrepo.com
Using a video softbox like the aputure ones will also work with these bowens mount adapter right? I mainly do video but jumping into photo portraits now and since I already have those video softbox I don’t know if it’s worth getting your softbox
Yeah, you can totally use that! The one thing that's really nice about these beauty dish soft boxes, even for video, is that the have a dish in the middle that spreads the light evenly vs being really strong in the center of a regular soft box. But yeah, before those I would just use regular video ones just fine! Thanks for watching
thanks man, also, I guess a flash like the godox v1 might give me enough power to light someone’s face with a softbox in a bright room right? Or do I need a strobe light like the ad200
I'm planning to shoot with a dental practice and the area isn't too big. They want headshots as well as office space shots + some candids of peopel at work. Do you think I could get away with a 25'' softbox?
Nice! Hmm, maybe! The light just might not be as soft? Not sure, smallest I've used is a 34in which is probably the smallest I would go for a key light. The smaller the modifier the more of a direct and not so soft light you get from it. Maybe practice on yourself or someone to try it out first! Thanks for watching
I have learned and heard throughout my career that you should focus on one thing until you master that one thing. If you were to take on (as a newbie/beginner) headshots and REP - you are doing yourself and the agent a disservice. Good idea to capture more of the marketplace though. Also, like you mentioned, this is another aspect that will take more investment to get properly setup.
Totally agree! I think while being mainly focused on one thing and mastering it, you can still explore and practice other things you’re wanting to do. But definitely not best the mind set to be a jack of all trades and just be okay at those things. Thanks for watching!
Interesting video! I've done headshots in the past using speed lights and larger..just purchased the AD200 Pro + Newer Chromakey backdrop for an upcoming conference..the thing concerning me is that folded down it's still 65.5cm wide and circular, so how I'll fit it in a hold case in the plane! You mentioned a smaller version than the 42" soft box, would that be enough for standard industry head/shoulder portraits? Obvs trying to keep the weight down too ;-) Thx!
Thanks! Yes, I definitely think the 42in is enough for shoulder up portraits, even mid-body up. Definitely nice that it's a lighter setup too! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this video, I am so curious how do you shoot a video when a wall is a built-in mirror or a giant mirror is Infront of you and you cannot avoid it? How to remove yourself in the premier pro?😅
Haha, I've definitely encountered that before! The only solution is to not shoot in front of it and adjust you composition or focal length to not catch you in the first place. No way that I know of to remove myself from the mirror for video!
@@AndreiRestrepo Thank you for your help and advice. I thought I have to shoot it and then do 2hours of editing trying to do some tricks to remove myself from the footages. In some areas it is too hard, imagine a modern bathroom with an fully mirrored wall in the opening. 😅🤔.
Yeah those are tough! When the mirror faces the doorway like in a small bathroom, I crouch down below the mirror so it's a really low shot but I don't get my self in the mirror.
Andrei I just filmed a model home with the R6 ii yesterday. I’m getting noise anywhere it’s a little darker in the shot like the bottom of a fridge. I’m exposed correctly 1-2 stops overexposed in clog3, using iso 800, 60FPS, 15mm, 2.8. Histogram is centered and not losing any shadows or highlights. How do I get rid of the noise? Should I just use Sony instead? I never have this issue with the Sony cameras.
Hey! You’ll always see noise in the log image, but correctly converted back it should pretty much be gone. How are you converting the log back to rec709? Manually or a correction lut?
@@AndreiRestrepo I’m filming in clog3 cinema gamut. I drop it into timeline in Final Cut. Then I apply a conversion lut. The conversion lut is the correct one - clog3 cinema gamut to bt709 dr-wide. After applying the lut the footage looked properly exposed and proper white balance but I still get some noise in shadows.
Hmm, not sure what to tell you! All my stuff on here and my real estate work is shot the same way and I never really see any noise. You could try dropping the shadows or blacks a bit to crush the noise a bit more. Is your in camera noise reduction on also? That could help if it isn’t on
