Before I review the film, it’s important to note that considering the content of the film, it will invariably be compared to Hollywood blockbusters like Top Gun and may also come into scrutiny for its political nature. I will aim to review this from a politically-neutral perspective, while also keeping in mind the film’s budget. The underlying story is somewhat basic with enough moments in the screenplay to keep you interested. The character development is also decent, with most characters having enough substance to make their presence worth it. The team bonding session is one that works very well to show the camaraderie between the group. Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone are a sizzling sight to see and both embody their role to the T. The VFX is a mixed bag, probably due to the high standards we are used to from Hollywood. However, in some intense scenes, the direction and VFX complement each other so well. The in-flight conversations and visuals are done superbly. The whole ‘Pakistan is our enemy’ notion forms the basis of the film. Considering the film’s audience is likely to be mainly Indian, Siddharth Anand appeals to the patriotism of viewers, through massy and sophisticated moments. The music and BGM in this film are very good and suit the film’s pacing well. Ishq Jaisa Kuch’s hookstep is unexplainably addictive and the vocals in Heer Aasmani are top-notch. Overall, Fighter is a film that was evidently made with a lot of research and effort. Has it paid off? Definitely! The writing and costuming are both so detailed and you never for once feel that the characters are actors or anything is fake. Being an Airforce aspirant, I can confirm that the radar scene was accurate since the fighter jets were smaller and flying right above an aircraft that's massive in size the radar will only pickup the signal from the larger plane only. Apart from that this film also nails the ranking system of the military forces unlike URI movie which I enjoyed but there were blunders in depicting the ranks of on-screen officers in URI movie.
