- Russ O'Hara (big at KRLA in 1969-70) returned to KRLA in the 90's for their Oldies format. Funny guy! Full video available from California Aircheck on Video #43 californiaairch...
One of my favorite AM radio DJ is and was Russ O’Hara. Legendary.
In 1969 when I wanted nothing more than to someday be a DJ, I visited Dick Saint while he was on the air at KRLA. Russ O'Hara came in while I was there and chatted with me. Regular guy. I was a wannabe gawker, and he treated me with genuine respect. Go, Russ O'Hungry!
Amazing.
In the 1950s, KRLA's big competitor was KDAY, my favorite. That was then radio, not now radio. One thing hasn't changed in all this time: Call Letter and/or broadcast frequency repetitive announcements ad nauseam. Back around 1987, I logged 52 "KOA" station identifications in a single hour! FCC regulations require only one ID per hour. KOA Denver, check it out.
What great memories of KR LA radio Pasadena I miss the station I was looking through some old stuff I had in the attic found my old KRL a T-shirt still good condition they play the best oldies best DJs huggy boy Art LaBow jimmy O’Neill and so many more
Russ and I worked together at KIKX in Tucson. Terrific, fun guy! Great on air talent
