I watched this Zara success story because I'm a fellow of the certification program of the CSCMP institution for getting he ScPro-Level 1 certification in Supply Chain Management. Thanks for the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals.
The problem with fast-fashion however from the third world to the developed world is the big problem of child and forced labour. In the year 2023 the separation of inequality between the g8 countries and everyone beyond the g20 is astronomical. Canada you can buy jeans for $10 which would have been seventy or eighty dollars 20 years. However one must wonder how much the maker got paid who actually made those $10 jeans? One must also remember when thinking of such questions that everything in retail is made to make profit. The $10 jeans weren't made to not make a profit nor were they made to break even. Then there is the cost of transportation and to factor in the cost of labor - and no I'm not talking about the labour of making the jeans but how much the sales associate is getting paid in Canada at the much higher rate. Now when we factor that all in together, how much did the child get paid who was forced to make the $10 jeans at Zara?
