Great to see you having a go with the faller road system Rob it really is great fun having the trains and cars going together but even more fun trying to film them .Continued success Rob cheers Tony.
Compared to other model railroad vids yours continue to be so prrofessional looking Rob well done. ie lighting, audio,no camera shake, camera angles and new material.
norfolk rover It takes a good deal of time to set up all the shots and edit them together. My guide is what I would be interested in seeing and knowing about if I was following my channel. Thank you so much, Rob
Great video Rob. Brings back the slot car memories and planned basement slot track that never got beyond a 10 year olds notebook. Anyway can’t wait to see the vehicles in action. Cary
Hi Cary, Yes, I think all of us have had a dream or two like that. Sometimes the planning is better than the reality. You won't have to wait long, you will see one running tomorrow. Thank you, Rob
Hi Rob that is a great little tool worth the wait looking forward to the next video part 3 this is going to look really smart when your roads are done and the truck is running around your layout. Regards George..
George Wyatt Hi George, A very special purpose and a well engineered tool. The final scene is starting to form in my mind for this part of the layout. Thank you, Rob
Hi Pete, It wa slow, I wish I could've gone slower. That was the best I could do. You can at least clearly see the design of the tool. I was surprised it was belt driven. Probable a high torque drive belt with cogs I would guess. Well engineered for sure. Thank you, Rob
Hi Geoff, It is the perfect tool for this, but nothing else. Probably seel it on ebay when I am done for a 1/4 of what I paid. Plastering coming up. Thank you, Rob
Hi Al, A perfect tool for the job. Useless for anything else. It will be one of those, Hey buddy, what's that thing for? Items. Yes, onward and upward. Thank you, Rob
That was a fabulous video Rob, I really enjoyed watching that, it could have been quite boring to watch but you made the subject compelling by interspersing real time with slow and fast times plus running trains with fabulous camera angles too. It was very informative and you made it quite clear for other folk how it should be done should they wish to have a go themselves. The tool you used was perfect for the job and had no problem cutting the plywood. A great video mate, well done! ;-). ..............Graham
Graham Foulston Hi Graham, The views seem to be lower than usual and that is no doubt the reason. Folks expected a slow boring blab about cutting the groove. My word, it took a lot of time to set up all the shots let alone carrying the planks up and down the stairs. My phone registered 17 sets of stairs however they measure it. It was more like 25 from my perspective. From what I have watched on the internet many people skip the tool and just plaster over the wire. Sometimes the wire reappears later on. Which I find a bit funny. The tool is perfectly suited. If you decide to try a road, I will send the tool. Thank you Graham, you’ve perked me up. It is a dreary cool and rainy day here today. There were some flash floods nearby last night. Thank you, Rob
You could tell that wasn’t a ‘quick’ video Rob, there were a lot of different shots to set up there, not just setting it up but getting it right too plus your trains running too. It’s a glorious day here and today I have been relaxing - just like I had been intending and I feel so much better for it too, I need a few more days like that. Just off to take the pup for a walk down the road - in our arms though as she is still not allowed on the path outside yet but will be in two weeks time. Cheers for now buddy and I’m glad I’ve perked you up a bit too. ;-) ..............Graham
Yes, definitely the right tool. Hope I'm not stepping on toes here but I think a straight edge would help on the straight portions of the road. On radius' anything you can get that's thin enough for the axle nuts to clear and matches your curves. None the less, great job as usual, Rob!!
William Lenoch Hi William, 150 mm is the minimum recommended radius. I got much better at following the line with a little practice. Perfectly straight may be boring in this case. I am still thinking about that issue. A straight edge would make it dead straight, true. I wanted my line to be fluid so much of it was free hand. Thank you for watching and your comment, Rob
Now that’s a tool worth waiting for Rob , like your speedy work .. like a rabbit appearing out of the hst there !! Lol .. all ahead non stop now .. Dave
Hi Dave, I did think about running the ones clip backwards and forwards a few times. It is a great tool for it's purpose. Not good for anything else. Probably sell it on ebay for cheap when I'm done. Thank you, Rob
At first I thought "a lot of expense when you could have used a Dremel with a pointed router bit." The results how ever show it's worth. Looking forward to seeing it running again. David.
Hi David, One slight;y used Faller Groove cutter, half price. Ha I thought about using a dremel, but in the end decided the purpose built tool was the way to go. Thank you very much, Rob
The results certainly look good ( so far) Rob.Thank you for the offer but I don't have anywhere that I could put a loop road in and if I did I'd put more track there. David.
Have just subscribed Rob. Great layout. I especially like the seaside station. I've just ordered a Faller starter set for my OO Gauge layout in the loft, and will try my Dremel to cut the groove in the plywood base as the Faller tool is very expensive!! I've seen your later video where you have applied the plaster road surface, painted it and run the lorry. A nice touch with the scooter incident where the lorry pulls out around the cones. I'm going to experiment first with various road surfaces as my loft has quite a variation in temperatures. I like the suggestion of someone else of sticky back vinyl, but not sure whether it will lift off in the loft.
Hi Brian, Thank you for subscribing and welcome. It maybe possible to avoid the tool, but for my layout I wanted to do it according to instruction from Faller. I would recommend the tool. There should be a tool library, where one could check one out for a week. I will probably sell mine on Ebay eventually. Good luck with your project and thank you, Rob
Great to see you having a go with the faller road system Rob it really is great fun having the trains and cars going together but even more fun trying to film them .Continued success Rob cheers Tony.
Hi Tony, Why not get a new experience and see what it is all about. It will increase the complexity of getting that good clip. Thank you so much, Rob

Nice work, particularly liked the superb slow motion shot of the cutter in action!!!

Now that was worth waiting for, it’s always best with the right tool for the job. Cannot wait for the plastering now. Regards, Geoff.

Just great Rob, that works really well and does a neat job, look forward to seeing the road ways in and vehicles running around. . . . . Al
Hi Al, A perfect tool for the job. Useless for anything else. It will be one of those, Hey buddy, what's that thing for? Items. Yes, onward and upward. Thank you, Rob
Great tool Rob,can't wait to see it finished.

Hi Bob, A perfect tool for the job. Not good for anything else though. Thank you, Rob
Great video Rob, can't wait for the next episode th
Hi Bob, me too. At least this next one won't require I go un and down the basement step 17 time. Ha Thank you, Rob
Hi Rob, very good Part2 about this Faller system. Thank you for the tutorial. Gérard.
Hi Gerard, You're welcome. Thank you for watching and your comment, Rob
hi Rob... that is a pretty slick how the wire gets installed... looking forward to the next phase... vinny
bnsf6951 Hi Vinny, The wire fits perfectly. Thank you, Rob
That cutter is awesome Rob!
Hi Dan, It is a well engineered tool for a specific purpose. Thank you, Rob
Nice update, thanks for sharing. Matt

Things made easy with the correct tool.
Hi Scott, I am not sure what you would do without it. I think it would be very difficult without the tool. Thank you, Rob
Excellent work Rob :-)
