    Great video! Im using a small sponge to sweep glass 😅 I’ve been wondering if tumbling glass works and this video certainly explains how to make it work! Thank you for taking the time to explain!

    You only need a few drops of oil in the cutter as you have probably already discovered since this video is 3 years old when I found it. Very easy to put oil on a cotton ball in a container a press your cutter in it periodically. Doesn’t tend to leave oily residue on your glass.

      Hi Lena! That’s a great idea, and thank you for the tip! My current cutter exudes oil on its own (and I don’t think I can control how much it releases) but when it runs out of oil, I’ll try your tip. Thank you!

    I don’t know if anyone mentioned but you really should use stained glass running pliers or grousers to remove your glass. The tool make all the difference. Loved your video though! Thanks for sharing ❤️

    Yay! Thank you! I'd been wondering what to do with my left over glass pieces from my stained glass and I recently got a rock tumbler. Thank you for the tutorial!

    Wondering- why didn’t you show the finished product?

      Hi Diane, you make a really good point. To be honest, I think I just made the video before the glass was done it's first round of tumbling, but I should have waited on that until it was done. The beginning of the second video shows the result after the second round of tumbling, but I should have put the results of the first go in the first video. Thanks for the suggestion, and for watching!

      Hi Ssue! I believe that the second part ( Tumbling Stained Glass - Part 2) shows the outcome, comparing the tumbled glass to the original :). Thank you for watching!

    Very informative I am getting ready to put together an art studio out of a shared my backyard? I definitely want to do glass. I’m so happy you went through the video of using a Tumbler with Stain-glass. At this point I’m not really sure what size Tumbler to purchase? I don’t want anything too big I wanna do Stainglass I want to do mosaics I love working with glass. I haven’t worked for glass in about 40 years so I’m very excited about it. Any suggestion on what size Tumblr to start out with would be much appreciated.

      Hi Pam!
      My tumbler is a Lortone 3lb barrel (lortone.com/collections/tumblers/products/model-3a). I would go with whatever size fits the glass you want to use. If you're doing smaller pieces, the 3lb should be fine, but I found that some of the pieces I wanted to tumble didn't fit in the barrel. Keep in mind that the longer you have the pieces tumbling, the thinner they will get, and you will also lose any texture on the glass face. If you want to maintain the thickness and straight sides of the glass, I think you'd be better off to use a grinder to just get rid of pokiness. But for mosaics, I would think tumbling should be fine (though I have no experience in mosaics, so take that with a pound of salt). I would love to know how it goes!
      Thank you for your comment and for watching!

    It’s not a given, keep a rag or a small utility broom handy to wipe your surface

      Hi Linda, yes, thank you for commenting on that! I wipe down my surface after, and I should have mentioned so. :)

    How are you not getting glass in your hand? This is soooooo cool btw

    • @MakingStuffWithCheryl
      @MakingStuffWithCheryl  3 роки тому

      Thank you, Lidya! Well, sometimes I do get glass in my hands, when I’m cutting the pieces lol. When I’m rinsing after tumbling, the little bits of glass that have been knocked off aren’t very sharp anymore. I still manage to get the occasional splinter, but generally that’s from sweeping the glass bits off my table, with my hand. Which isn’t a great idea lol.
