Many people I know have a severe lack of desire and interest in learning. I mean, One should have the desire to learn for the sake of learning alone and for the sake of the thrill of learning a new thing. So if someone lacks the curiosity to dig deeper to understand what is going on inside, and wants to get a job, then he/she should sincerely evaluate their goals and approach.

"I believe that if you lack interest in learning, it might be a sign that you should explore another field that genuinely excites you. In coding, for instance, continuous learning is a big part of the job. If you're not passionate about coding, you're likely to struggle with the constant need to learn new things. However, if you love what you do, such as coding, you'll probably enjoy the learning process as well, making it a better career choice in the long run. Of course, there are exceptions, but I think you get my point."

Im not being funny, but isnt being referred to a 200 page doc the same as referring to textbooks for a degree (and actually even less)?
Much of the time, simply a beginner asking a 1-2 sentence answer doesnt actually teach them anything except to copypaste something that they then cant adapt or are too scared to deviate from.
If a beginner wants to build themselves into being a strong competitor against a full-on graduate (ie. the _direct_ competition), then they're just going to have to push themselves.
If a 200 page doc (understandably) sounds like a big ask, then that person may have to either keep on asking around, or else google their question and see the resource material/forum threads that have been made around the same topic.
The above method is much more educational, as youre learning alternative methods and other things entirely ob the way to finding the equivalent of a 1-2 sentence answer. Which again, is no different from what degree students do (burning the midnight oil)

I started my journey in tech in 2019 with a coding bootcamp, and it was very clear by the end of the bootcamp that it wasn't enough. I simply did not understand how or why anything worked, so I decided to pursue a CS degree. While working on my degree, I did occasional features for the open source frontend of a community I was very involved in, and when I finished my degree the owner of the site offered me a 6 month contract as a full stack engineer working with him which was later extended to 1 year. Coming up on the end of that now and starting to look for a new role.
I guess my point is that I can say with absolute surety that I would not have been able to perform my job without a strong understanding of CS fundamentals and would have completely failed if I'd tried to take this on straight out of that bootcamp. People might not like to hear this, but it is absolutely true and it needs to be said. Thank you for speaking truth! 💪

The biggest problem is that boot camps and some UA-camrs say that you can become job-ready in six months to a year and it’s just not true. I don’t know if it was ever true or if they’re all just lying. I fell for a boot camp’s lies and realized after finishing that I wasn’t even close to job-ready. I ended up getting a CS master’s degree from a program set up for career changers and now I’m hoping that I’m ready and someone will hire me. I really hate that there are so many liars out there. Yeah, it doesn't take a superstitious person to realize that nepotism is the de facto way to get a job these days. I've been applying to everything from $20/hr (about 40% my last wage) up through a healthy "continuation" wage within my career path. Since my last contract ended, there's been nothing. I only got that contract after 6 months of looking thanks to a friend in the company. My last job before that was also in-network.
Noticing I haven't gotten meaningful interviews since about 2021, here we are approaching 2025... Globalization certainly is a factor, telework is easier than ever. There's other aspects of tech that act as force multipliers. Companies can very easily shrink their workforce while scaling these days.

It doesn't matter what your education is- you deserve $20-30/hr if you are working for somebody else, it's what every other job pays. Skilled menial labor pays twice that, because the jobs are actually hard and require more training and experience than white-collar jobs. The economy is flat for wages, if you want more you have to risk starting your own business and eating dirt.

They, for whatever reason, don't want me to gain advantage over them, don't like me, or something weird but that's far and few in-between. I've met a lot of cool people who share their honest thoughts and opinions. This video makes it sound like people who tell the truth is a gatekeeper. However I disagree. I don't see honesty and truth as gatekeeping. Only the act of being dodgy and blowing someone off especially when you know that you can point them in the right direction.

I mean if I was a company owner myself and I had let's say 100,000 applications of really good developers and I had to choose only 5 of them, I will surely become very picky. It's just like dating. Companies are the woman in this case, and the applicants are the men. It's brutal for us. I would say that it's the market that's to be blamed. Because there's a "supply overflow" of developers right now and the only thing that one can do is to improve themselves.
