Calgary......The best way to save water in a time like this is to drink more beer.
Proud to be Canadian
True Canadian spirit
MORE BEER!🤓😜
Dayglo Abortions fan.
I know Albertans and there’s no way you fellas can drink more you’re maxed out now.
Only one per cent of water is actually consumed by humans, you cannot drink your way out of this.
Thanks for providing the update, that being said, it would have been appreciated and beneficial to show the details shown on the screen behind the spoke person, about the different water routes in the city.
Cameraman is untrained probably on low wage
Why is the cameraman leaving the camera fixed on the person talking instead of showing the picture she is using to explain the situation?
To make it look very different from yesterday?
Autism
Talk to the shop steward, cameraman is on break. It's in the CBA.
Simply stupid
To guide you to the city's website for further information.
I hope the city will learn something from this. Redundancy should be built into the system rather than holding the entire system at risk. Unbelievable that this happens in a city the size of Calgary.
I was wondering if redundancies should built in to the system
I actually really appreciate how frequent the city has issued updates on this.
Even though this is from yesterday?
@EnsignRedshirtRicky The person is a.i. Isn't real
@@ChiefThanos I feel pretty real but ok
SHOW the slide !
Calgarians....
Sounds like an alien on the original StarTrek.
I feel sorry for the subordinate who spent their time making the graphics we never got to see.
I know someone who used to work for the city as a millwright. From what I've heard I'm surprised we still have running water.
That's the case for 99% of cities in northern America. We did a great job expanding civilization but all of that infrastructure is getting old and most of the budgets are going to management and further expansion.
I’ve heard stories of wooden pipes, old concrete pipes with asbestos insulation…
im sure theres some horrific lovecraftian pipe out there we have yet to discover
I haven’t had a shower in 4 days. 5 minutes wouldn’t hurt right?
5 mins is fine. No more then 30 mins to be safe but tbh I don't care. I pay my taxes ima use all the water I want
Yes? It's legal to shower, they just want you to gmcut water usage by 25% of what it usually is.
@@lc9952tough guy lmao
Get wet, turn off the water, soap up, and then quickly rinse. That should be okay.
Whatvis the point in the screen with pictures if they are not going to show them.
Cameraman is asleep
I’m not a fluid engineer (electricity is my domain)… instead of having one massive record breaking diameter pipe as a single point of failure, why not have multiple smaller diameter pipes that are much more manageable to repair and have more readily available parts in stock?
When we build large we need to expect large failures because all infrastructure is destained to fail at some point or another.
never let a crisis go to waste
Daily slow work video I taken.
Pump stations around city. How clean is the water if I test on average 275 ppm.
How do we know this same issue will not happen on any other water main that is over 50years old?
Why don't they show the images she is talking about. I don't need a close up of her talking...
You are absolutely right
Why wouldn't they have a valves upstream to block in flow
This is a re-broadcast of the update last night. The Mayor is wearing the same clothes, on the right edge of the screen. No new information for today.
Your point????
The mayor is a dunce. Real work needs to get done and no amount of virtue signaling can compensate for that.
@@hithere8753it sounds like real work is being done, what specific virtue signalling is present here?
@@zzing "The message"
How are you suppose too shower or wash your clothes if your on a water ban
lol at all the experts...yeah you and your buddies could fix it in 20 mins, sure
Brings back fond memories of my grade one lessons with Miss Staples.
What she just said was the rupture was the result of water hammer that was do to shutting off the pipe so is it human or computer related problem?
Let’s see the slide.
Get some oilpatch workers in there they would have had it done two days ago
So many companies can’t work is the city going to compensate them for lost wages due to incompetence on the city’s part. I love that there is no accountability for their end.
What companies?
@@zacatkinson3926
Anyone that does hot work, vac trucks, power washing basically anything that need water
What caused the problem?
I like how she includes herself as if she did any work other than reading and presenting the information.
All of them wanna feel special without doing actually anything. They are ridiculous. 🤡🤡🤡" oh, our mini robot, blah blah," she hasn't got a clue.
"A lot of water, a big effort" A grade 3 grad! 😂😂😂
What kind of pipe was it? PVC, Ductile, steel, HDPE????
Concrete. Water is very corrosive to steel. Hope this helps.
have you ever seen a 2.0m diameter HDPE, DB2, PVC or Carlon pipe? ask better question you electrical expert lol
@@fiddlersthree8463there are many steel water pipes, sometimes lined internally. This particular pipe appears to be pre-stressed concrete cylinder PCCP, you can see the damaged high tension steel wires coiled around it. If enough of those high tension steel wires fail, either from corrosion or hydrogen embrittlement, the pipe can fail catastrophically.
I hear it was Reinforced concrete pipe!
@@kenlam4978 yes! That’s what I do for a living! And yes there is a 72” HDPE pipe.
its been 2 days and youre still assessing? what do you do for 48 hours
More than you, a $ $h 0 le
Go down to the site and have a look if you’re so curious. Pull the engineers aside and ask them what they have and have not done and how much longer it will take…get them to explain the process and what’s involved. You could even ask them to draw you a picture.
@@marjoriecorcora7617 and why would i do something that stupid
@@bbloodyangel1 lol then why the hell you ask bahaha
You do realize that doing a proper engineering assessment is not something that can be done overnight, right?
Would you prefer they rush to complete the job and risk this happening again?
How in 2024 can you have a video that isn't recorded in stereo.
When will you fix it? you didn't answer the key question
Great to be able to see the charts. Not.
There is a river right there that the water was able to drain to.
'water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink'
Selling yesterday's news as new? Sad
Why’s this water main break so important to her there’s other things the public wants her to addres
Let it go let it go can't hold it back anymore
She looks well showered and cloths look nice and clean. Also car washes are an essential service so stop asking why they are open. Please dont gawk at the lazy city workers it makes them feel uncomfortable
Who is this woman?
How about a rebate on our water bills because of the crappy unreliable service?!
Thanks for the hard efforts
Do not thank them. They are incompetent, over paid and do not listen to the tax payers they represent.
Why do they just walk back and forth all day. No seeing them do anything.
No rainbow uniforms today?
Blah, blah, strong team, absolutely committed, all Calgarians, blah, blah, blah.
Let’s have officials at the helm who are actually proactive instead of playing defence all the time on our dime and our sacrifice. Repair the dam with band aid solutions and then be shocked when it breaks. Imagine if we treated our homes with the same logic……. It’s like that guy whose overweight who spends money on really nice expensive exercise clothes but forgets to eat properly and sports the clothes to look healthy. We need common sense at all levels of government. Gondek begging and blaming the province to fix this problem was a pathetic.
The wild incompetence, wilful neglect, and corruption is stunning. What a great country
Especially within Calgary. Ran by NIMBY boomers. What if we built more high rises? They would have found this water pipe issue way earlier. What a bunch of incompetent fools.
@jeff-xl9dv2cp6z Neglected maintenance, wasted money on other needless and essentially pointless things when important infrastructure like this is failing and on its last legs. That is incompetence. Also the repair is taking way longer than needed. Again, rampant incompetence at the highest levels down to middle management.
Sound only on one side
get new headphones.
You can start the video at 5:30
You’re welcome.
All the other time is useless government babbling
Uncontrolled development and massive internal migration put pressure on infra
Just get our everyday, plumbers, they know how to fix the problem, we don't need government, that will charge 100 times more then what it is worth~
City crews hard at it.....LMAO....NOT
City workers will milk this for over time .
They should work overtime for nothing?
@@fiddlersthree8463 regular pa is fine, they did inspection in April2024 and didn't see anything wrong, they screw up
Ah your slaves right?
@@fiddlersthree8463 Not Bob's point. His point is they will take their time so that the Overtime pays.. Which an emergency job like this would pay crazy amounts
@@bennylava8717maybe it broke in the time between. I’m sure those guys have some pride and want to provide services for the public. I sure hope so haha
I showered yesterday and today and did dishes
You live in Calgary?
What an incompetent city. One main breaks and the whole city is held hostage for over a week.
It's a feeder main, which means that a large amount of the municipal water in the city flows through that pipe. That means the pipe is very big, a lot of water was released, which takes time to remove because you can't assess the damage and repair properly when it's flooded.
Sometimes it's important to realize that not everything can be fixed overnight and that things take time.
@iron___ its baffling that there aren't sufficient redundancies
Hypnosis and gas lighting 😅😅
This doesn't add up
Since when do water lines burst in the summer? Seems like it was done on purpose...🤔
Not all water lines burst due to freezing. There are plenty of other causes like age (this pipe was likely very old, I heard it was tabbed for maintenance prior to the leak), maintenance, improper construction, improper installation, improper materials used, etc.
Not everything is a conspiracy..
Things done on purpose…need a motive. What. Is. The. Motive here?
This is a FEEDER main, not the same as a water main in the neighborhoods. This pipe is 6' in diameter and takes water from the Bearspaw water treatment plant and sends it to reservoirs where the pipe distribution system sends it to houses and businesses. They explained this about 3 updates ago...
Gondek is useless and must resign.
The city must reduce property taxes by cutting a lot of services that don’t benefit the property owners requirements.
Why? Did she puncture the water line?
Conditioning and social engineering
How?
@@859duke you don't listen to them speak? They want you to reduce water use or else they will ration the water.. they want 50% reduction .. but that's just a cover. They really just want to ration water. They are musing at the idea of rationing water so they can fight arson fires they claim are climate change.
@@859duke after that probably food rationing if they can manage it.
THANKS for the daily dumb. flat earther
100% agreed. The news is already saying the restrictions will be full time. "See how well you did all you Calgarians - keep it up - FOR THE ENVIRONMENT"
If they had hired a few oil field workers this main would be repaired in five minutes.
Plenty of oilfield workers are also utilities workers. Been there done that. Thanks for your limited knowledge on the subject Linda.
Easy there union....pff

Lack of maintenance is why everyone is moving out of Alberta.

I’m seeing a common occurrence here. Every time there’s an update it’s a woman. No wonder they’re still working on it.
Wait... you're right! A bureaucracy that uses a single person as a point of contact for the dissemination of information?? That makes no sense, clearly they should have a different person each day... consistency is the enemy of a productive solution, as always.
@@TocYounger well they had the mayor with her speech, then they had a representative from the Calgary police with her rainbow shoulder pads. So there was that.
Is it a coincidence that we are failing as a society and have more women in power?
Ponder that for a while.🤔

I wonder where the money laundering is headed for this time. Flippin unbelievable
