Gewandhausorchester delivers Christmas concert to front door

It’s still about half an hour until the 8 pm shift begins at DHL’s hub in Leipzig. Several staff have already arrived for their shift; they engage in friendly, socially-distanced banter as they walk from the parking lot to the brightly lit Terminal 1. The closer they get to the entrance, the louder the sound of the cargo planes out on the apron. But there’s something different on this December 1, 2020. Suddenly they hear more than just the whir of jet engines; it’s music - a Christmas song! And sure enough, as they approach the main entrance they’re greeted by a small brass ensemble - a quintet of world-famous Leipzig Gewandhausorchester musicians playing a classic German carol. Pleasantly surprised, the employees stop and soak in the beautiful music.
