- In this 555 timer project, I have shown how to make a time delay relay circuit using 555 timer IC to automatically turn Off the switch after a predefined delay. You can also adjust the off delay time up to 20 minutes.

Required Components for the 555 timer project
1) 555 Timer IC
2) BC547 Transistor
3) 1000uF 16V Capacitor
4) 1k 0.25watt Resistors - 2 no
5) 10k 0.25watt Resistor
6) 1M Trimmer
7) LED 5mm - 1no
8) 1N4007 Diode
9) 12V SPDT Relay
10) Pushbutton
11) Connectors & IC Base
12) Acrylic sheet
I have made the complete time delay switch circuit on a homemade PCB.
I have used the 12V DC adaptor to supply the circuit. Please take proper safety precautions while working on 110V or 220V AC.
You can also adjust the delay time of the light switch from the 10 mega-ohm trimmer or POT.
If you want to use a 5V DC supply, then just use a 5V relay instead of the 12V relay. No other changes are required.
After watching the video, you can easily design this Delay Timer switch circuit for your home.

Well done! Simple and clear!
You can modify it a little and make a similar circuit completely for 220 V.
Then it will be a pulse relay with one-button control!
The author, instead of a mechanical relay, it is much better to use a triac. After all, as a key, a triac is much more reliable than a mechanical relay!
And you can make power for the chip from a low-capacity "quenching capacitor", a bridge, a smoothing capacitor and a Zener diode to the desired voltage.
Try to refine it according to this principle, then I will adopt Your scheme!
And yet, there should always be a standard scheme! Preferably laid out separately or in the video itself, at least for 5-6 seconds. Then it will be considered a full-time job, and this is already professional and high-quality! Then you will want to watch something else on Your channel again!

Можно немного доработать и сделать подобную схему полностью на 220 В.
Тогда это будет импульсное реле с управлением от одной кнопки!
Автор, вместо механического реле, намного лучше использовать симистор. Ведь как ключ, симистор намного надёжнее, чем механическое реле!
И можно сделать питание для микросхемы от "гасящего конденсатора" малой ёмкости, моста, сглаживающего конденсатора и диода Зенера на нужное напряжение.
Попробуйте доработать по такому принципу, тогда и я возьму на вооружение Вашу схему!
И ещё, всегда должна быть стандартная схема! Желательно отдельно выложенная или в самом ролике, хотя бы на 5-6 секунд. Тогда это будет считаться полной работой, а это уже профессионально и качественно! Тогда, захочется снова и ещё что-то смотреть на Вашем канале!

Circuit which you made is manual, we have to press button to start the circuit.
How to make it automatic? I mean 15 to 20 seconds in normally open and 15 to 20 seconds normally closed relay mode? And it should happen infinitely vice versa!

Yes, you can calculate this using 555 equation: Delay time=(1.1×R2 in ohm)×(capacitor value in F)

It's the capacitor slowly discharging after being charged up with the button press, it's an extremely basic 555 circuit. Google other NE555 circuits for ideas

Standard PCB rules apply to routing the LM555. The 0.1-µF capacitor in parallel with a 1-µF electrolytic capacitor
should be as close as possible to the LM555. The capacitor used for the time delay should also be placed as

doubtful the current would be too low and fail due to cap leakage - use a decade counter after the 555

@@kennmossman8701 im trying to make a tactical flashlight for my shot gun. It's easy to source 1.5 to 3v batteries. The push button needs to be momentary because it needs to be a "shake awake" and keeps getting activated as it's being used or carried but needs to sleep when inactive. It will help at the tactical range. I'm printing the body when I get my circuitry handeled. I haven't gone to electrical circuitry class for 15years, but recently just aquired soldering equipment and components... just getting back into things. I made a delay start and a delay off both with a 555, but I'm trying to make one that does both with just one 555 timer.

To set the time to 3 minutes you should put a higher value resistor for the timing. to change the power to 5v you need just a 5v relay. all other components are fine with 5v

Not required as you are using transistor. Please check the collector current limit of transistor

yes but a relay probably would fail since the peak current is extremely high. Plus a relay is less precise in turn-on/turn-off
