If Storm did get pregnant, it would have been before you got her. You could have a vet do an internal ultrasound to preg check her. It's the most reliable. And they can tell you how far along she is. 💖💖💖
Here’s a weird animal story for you. I had a dog that picked up an abandoned kitten from the ditch and brought it home. She raised it. She had never had puppies before, but she started lactating and she nursed that kitten to adulthood. They remained best buddies for life.
I also know of a dog that did the same thing. Never been pregnant,but started to to nurse some kittens that was in the home. I can’t wait for an up date as to what is happening to Stormy 💕

Normally mares are in season every 21 days between April and September, so if she was covered by a stallion in September the latest she would have it is August, not that far off 8 weeks at most. Very often maiden mares do not show a lot until the last 4 weeks, and then they get round and heavy, and before birth the part above the tail either side softens to touch noticably

The vet had to come out and basically milk her because it hurt her and I just couldn't do it myself. Wouldn't it be wonderful if she is pregnant? Lol a new journey raising a foal for you.
Could be a false pregnancy, but her belly is lower and a bit rounder than it has been. A maiden mare does not always "show" as much. The blood test will tell, if positive then you could have an ultrasound done to get a guesstimate on how far along and approx. due date. If not, are you giving her a reg u mate supplement?
I bought a mare years ago and after a few weeks she had a bulging bag which had clear liquid coming out. Had vet out to do internal to make sure if she was pregnant or not. She was not, ended up being a change in grass which caused the swelling in udder and clear liquid coming out. X

On RH Farm Rescue I just saw where they found out an auction mare was pregnant. The tail could be lifted quite vertical and it was soft in the tail area. I love Storms mane with the white streaks. A foal with her markings would be beautiful. I vote for the foal. Rita would be challenged to behave more.
Soooo, maybe the reason Storm is the only one who could calm Rita, is because Rita could sense Storm is pregnant. OR….Mothering Rita is making Storm have these physiological changes.

It could be a phantom pregnancy. I had that happen with two of my dogs at the same time. The vet was extremely confused by it. But they were both producing milk. The vet ended up doing an ultrasound and x-rays, free of charge because he had never seen two females, living in the same home, have phantom pregnancies at the same time. The phantom pregnancy would also explain the weight gain and imbalance 😊

One of two things is that she is pregnant before you got her or she is lactating because of all the female longhorns being pregnant. It also can be hormones with her growth.❤

Horses are pregnant for 11 months... sometimes a little longer if the mare is stubborn😂 they can get false pregnancy symptoms. Shes been in season. So i don't think she is. Could take her to get palpated or ultrasound.
I know absolutely nothing helpful but just thinking if the donkey(s) got to her, maybw the flood of hormones could cause that even though its would be obviously way to early for actual feeding a foal. I guess the best example i could give is when my wife was pregnant her breast would swell and with our son she had what seemed like milk secretions come in before we even knew she was pregnant. I remember the doctor mentioning the surge of hormones could cause that. She didnt have the "milk" issues with either of our daughters just the normal growth and soreness.
I would probably do a preg check, or a vet check. Hormones can be a thing to like you said. Having milk stuff now, with practically no belly.....probably not pregnant. But she is young, they dont show a lot the first time. Having clear milk is not bad if she is close to foaling. It wil darken up closser to the due date. But if she is, is has to come around/befor oktober. If you watch Katie van Slyke, amd i think you do😜 Try the tail to move upwards, and see how far it goes. And try the giggle of the butt😂

Im no vet, but just from the way she acts now and her filling out the way she has bc she is expecting! Im guessing she will deliver in August.
