This so old school ... For 2023... Select the number range, click on small format box which appears at bottom, go to total and select running totals
Quick analysis tool or QAT that can also be accessed with CTRL+Q dates back to 2013 if I am not wrong. Amazing tool... but if your pivot table includes more rows... then QAT method won't give you the updated results. Calculated fields always will!

That's what I would do, but you don't need the $ before the C. You only need it before the 3 (=SUM(C$3:C3).
