This is an interesting take, especially since in the novels Masuka is the guy who is bent on proving Dexter innocent and it's also directly stated that he is also masking everything outside of his sense of humor and Dexter admires that in him
I don't know about everyone knowing the truth about dexter However if you recall in new blood batista says 2 theories of the bay harbor butcher was between doakes and dexter However in the original show batista never believed Maria at all, and in season 8 he was thoroughly convinced Maria was obsessed and wrong about dexter, yet for some reason he kept all her files close to himself😂
I mean… it might not have been long but he did date her and they even were married a bit in the show. That makes it reasonable that he would keep some of her files
I'm guessing that Dexter will return to Miami at the end of season one. By some miracle he gets out of the Iron Lake mess. Gets reinstated at Miami Metro. Season one will end with Dexter walking into his old job with old and new faces looking at him. He'll look at the camera and wink. His inner dialogue says he's been resurrected "did you miss me?" The Dexter chime noise drops and the credits roll. Season 2 will pick up a few months to a year later with Dexter getting back into the flow of his day job (new tech, polices, co workers, etc) and the flow of his moonlighting recreations. For Dexter to truly be Resurrected he needs to be Dexter in name, not hiding or on the run under and alias, and in nature by hunting and taking out the trash, which he can't do if he's locked up.
I'm not convinced that Masuka knew. It's more probable that he figured Dexter was just as awkward as he was and felt understanding and relatable. Masuka didn't just make uncouth jokes to Dexter, Dexter would often do the same .
I think that just about everyone, but Maria and Deb knew at this point. They all stuck up for him because they believed in what he did. He’s the type of person that would have a lot of backing if people knew who he was.
Masuka/Matsuka was an unsung hero of the series. It always felt like he knew, but assessed Dexter much like a shark. Mostly harmless, but an important part of their sphere, cleaning up and tossing out the trash.
In the first book, Dexter sees Masuka as someone like him who only pretends to have human feelings. That's why he tolerated his extreme behavior. Masuka could simply recognize the same in Dexter.
I would have either ignored the truth or actively helped Dexter. Not because he is necessarily right to do what he does. However, it really comes down to a simple calculation for me: Does the good he is doing by taking these folks off the board outweigh the collateral damage? And I think the show demonstrates that it does. He has stopped monsters the government never could, and in so doing saved countless folks. The government can't and shouldn't allow Dexter to do what he does. He is violating the rights of these people. That said, I think what the state should take from the emergence of such a figure is that there exists a serious policy failure which is allowing a single man to outperform the police in finding these guys. Granted, Dexter does do lots of unconstitutional things to find evidence, but he also just does basic detective work, work that seems to be lacking at Miami metro and even with the FBI. Dexter was able to find Trinity, but you're telling me all the resources of Miami Metro and the FBI couldn't? Dexter found him in like three days after hearing about him. Had he not become somewhat enamored with him, he'd have stopped Trinity long befire the cops figured it out.
The cuts from the limbs from the bay harbor butcher investigation were very surgical. Hmmm what did dexter go to college for. Wait, a dr, a surgeon. He has experience with cutting up bodies and knowledge of the human body
Masuka knew, but he didn't turn him in because he was scared. Masuka knew that if he turned Dexter in he would lose the best bowler on his league team.
Unrelated but i’ll never forget when he got mad at them for not showing up to an award ceremony of his and he was all serious for a portion of the episode. Lol i couldnt take him seriously but he was so melodramatic about it 😂
there'd have to be mind games for that. masuka never really got to that level with dex like a joey quinn or a lundy where its on n off paranoia and disposition. masuka's known this man for years n their relationship was probably the most stable seeing as it didnt need to be any deeper than two colleagues that enjoyed each other's presence. something surface level that sure, someone you know on the surface might not kill for you, but they definitely appreciate the simplicity of your friendship. when friendship goes on another level it has the potential to be problematic. that goes for life, media and ESPECIALLY Dexter
I know he’s a bit qwerky and down to earth but it could be arrogance arrogance in know how good he is at his job so someone in his work space committing crime and and he didn’t know was impossible in masukas eyes or he’s just a good friend and just didn’t think of Dexter as a bad guy
If he knew Dexter was a serial killer he'd also know that the people he was killing were also serial killers and who'd want catch guy and go to court for hours???
In the new prequel they knew Dexter when he was 20 years old, so the whole time he was doing the body dumps . I'll finish later I have a cat on my lap now 😽
I think you're giving Masuka too much credit here. Original Sin shows that Masuka's crude jokes and awkward laughing was always present, even before Dexter. Unless the Tanya theory is true, in which case he's always been surrounded by monsters. He's smart, but he's not an investigator.
I truly think Vince Masuka was far more intelligent than he let on. His humor made it easy to dismiss him, but think about it-someone that sharp couldn’t have missed the signs. It’s almost impossible he didn’t know. Let me know what your thoughts are! 💉🩸
At first I was hesitant in even believing this to be true as I didn't really pick up on any solid signs/proof that masuka could have known or really believe Dexter could be a killer but you make a good point on his humor, I believe that masuka has a mask just like Dexter, obviously not saying he is a serial killer I mean that he plays up persona while keeping his real intentions/feelings at bay like Dexter does and we seen how excellent of an analyst masuka was so I do think it's possible masuka actually somewhat at least thought about it from a time or two but again I never noticed anything in the show the indicated that masuka was in the know but awesome take 🔥
Cant believe Masuka was the bay harbor butcher
MAH BOI!
Except angel 😭
Sparkle MAH BOI!
more like the bay harbor gooner
More like the Bay harbor P🌽 addict
At this point I am sure everyone knew Dexter was the Bay Harbour Butcher. Doakes is the last one to find and he got too excited.
of course he would, dexter and doakes were lovers
According to UA-cam, everyone in the whole show knew it was Dexter. Doakes' deception levels were that good.
And everyone threw him a party
Naw it was Doakes 😂😂😂😂😂 idk where yaw get your sources from!
Possibly it's because Dexter was always nicer to him than everyone else was so he saw Dexter as a good friend
This is an interesting take, especially since in the novels Masuka is the guy who is bent on proving Dexter innocent and it's also directly stated that he is also masking everything outside of his sense of humor and Dexter admires that in him

@@Facelaussalso her mysteriously dying when pursuing Dexter...
@@thevelourfog15He also saw Dex kill Saxon, and saw how calm he was prior to anyone entering the room.
i never even thought about that, every case Dexter ever worked on would have to be questioned if he was caught
Yeah if i remember right Dexter manipulated evidence so criminals who where about to be thrown in jail could escape and HE could go after them
I guess we'll find out in Resurrection if he comes back

It would have been really cool if Masuka had pieced it all together and became an antagonist. Make him more interesting as a character.
In the first book, Dexter sees Masuka as someone like him who only pretends to have human feelings. That's why he tolerated his extreme behavior. Masuka could simply recognize the same in Dexter.
It fits his character to be too affraid to say anything lol!!!
