- In this video I Convert an older Briggs & Stratton engine to run on propane and natural gas.
Hi my name is Paul & I’m Organic Dairy Farmer South Dakota. I farm with my younger brother & we milk 50 cows. We are a 4th generation family farm that farms 400 acres in which we raise corn, oats, alfalfa, soybeans plus we do rotational grazing with our milk cows.
We have been a certified organic dairy since November of 2006 & we take a lot of pride in what we do & strive to produce the highest quality products that we can.
I hope I can teach you a little bit of something about organic farming also in process maybe have a little fun along the way. Don’t be afraid to think outside they box!

We had a propane generator on the farm, it was a bigger unit. I remember we had to move it with the loader. I think it was a 10kw+ unit, had an Onan twin cylinder engine. We had a connection and regulator for it on the 500Gallon tank for the house. This Generator would run the whole house and the well so we had water for the cattle. We raised bottle calves to slaughter weight, otherwise I'm sure we would have had a PTO generator to power the barn too. The only thing we couldn't run with this generator was the welder and air compressor in the machine shed.
Take A metal coat hanger bend it over into A D shaped wire for pushing A cloth rag through the hole for drying out.& removing dirt.& etc. From inside of your fuel tank. Next use A airgun nozzle to blow out.& dry out the fuel tank with.& vacuum it as the very last step with shok vac.,or HEPA filter vacuum.
Propane on a Briggs... Makes sense but it's the first time I've seen this. I have propane on a Minneapolis Moline U never thought of it on a Briggs.... I'm going to try this on my snow blower maybe. (If I can find a place to mount the tank.) Really nice to see you this morning Paul, start my week off right.
I've had several welders with briggs and kohler that were propane. Alot of plants won't let you run a gasoline engine inside so we had to use propane. They make factory propane carbs for most small engines
@@brianhansen826 yes, when I was in the factory all the forklifts we're propane, all the welder were electric. Yup, no gasoline allowed in the factory.

Just clean the carburator.& jets.& sets.& port holes out good. It'll work again with A gasket.& O-ring seal kit. Get some regular ethanol fuel.& add A bottle water to the fuel shake it up in A clear jug let it set for 2 days.& get yourself one of those plastic hand squeezable pump for removing the settlement out of the bottom of the clear jug.& then just add in octane booster to your FUEL afterwards to be ready for use after swishing the jug around.
I suppose one could do that but the fuel tank on that generator is not very big. It maybe holds a gallon and a half of gas. For a run time maybe of 2 hours. We plan using it to plug our combine into on our field that’s 12 miles from home if we have cold weather in the fall. I have a 30 lb propane tank that it can run on for several hours.
Thanks for sharing about the propane conversion kit. Thought you were going to convert the tractor to propane when you mentioned the pony motor, and not use the pony motor. Do put in a garden, as some say there maybe food shortages, maybe? Good to grow as much food as you can.
I’m actually seriously thinking about converting the pony motor on my tractor to propane. I don’t know if it will work but I’m thinking about it anyways.
@@organicpaulguy It might work. I saw a DJ 70 in Texas that ran on propane. It did not have a pony motor.
Dual fuel is a great idea Paul. I only put ethanol in the things I know I'll use it all right away. I don't leave it in anything.
