Loved the way "Why Ansible?" was explained instead of just going over the coding part and missing the details of Why Ansible. Great content. Thanks for the video

The major leverage of Ansible is that since it is a push configuration as opposed to a pull configuration it can apply system configuration in scale instantly as opposed to a node having to check in with the local machine periodically. This gives more user control and can be implemented to specific nodes easier and as necessary.

Have a class where we quickly dipped into Ansible. It was very poorly explained by our teacher since he relies on us finding extra information online. Thank god you put this high quality video with a clear explanation on youtube ♥️

I have an interview coming up, and Ansible is one of the preferred skills for the profile. Since I mainly have been managing only Kubernetes and Google Cloud infrastructure, this video gave a good head start. Will be trying to test out some sample deployments. Thank you for the video. :)
After watching this video a couple times I now have a better understanding of Ansible. Thank you!

ENJOYED the video AND found it useful - thanks !
ONE THING:
- you clearly state (repeatedly) that Ansible is a PUSH-type Configuration Tool, BUT...
- your slides related to this sub-topic clearly state that Ansible is a PULL-type Configuration Tool :-O
(you may wish to update this, which is a bummer because you've already got over 8,000 views and HUNDREDS of likes :-|
NICELY DONE !
Hi Mark, thank you so much for bringing this to our attention. We reported this right away to the relevant department. But anyways thanks for the kind comment. Do check out our other tutorial videos and subscribe to us to stay connected. Cheers :)
Great point; I know that, practically speaking, Ansible is not really built well to be a PULL tool, due to its original purpose in design. By the time you’ve put Ansible on the box, AND Python, AND set up the cron and VCS, you’ve turned half the advantages of Ansible on their heads.
If someone is hard-set on locking configs and centrally managing them, something like Puppet is prob. a much better fit.
Great and precise intro to Ansible. Thanks a ton!

Ansible has the advantage of not needing an installed agent; it uses SSH which is already present and secure. This makes things very simple.

Ansible uses the the python language which is yaml, and is written in English which makes it easier for non-programmers to pave to pave their way for easy management. Chef and puppet uses Rubby language which is domain specific.

I'm installing Openshift Origins and this really helped understand what Ansible is ... Openshift uses Ansible for installation.. Now I just want to use Ansible to setup all kinds of stuff, it's pretty awesome. Thanks great video.

Puppet and Chef work on push/pull principle where the nodes need to have a client piece of software installed so that the client can pull the configs.
That's right! Both Chef and Puppet work on pull configuration where as Ansible works on push configuration.
The pull config has one advantage suppose I have done a manual changes in one node to do POC and found that it is working then I will pull the config thwn push it to remaining node and also to the central repository
Great video ! But 7:58, the bottom task: yum: xxxx , is it at the wrong alignment ? "yum" should align with "name" word.
Very good explanation, clear!

Very nice video ..I am new to this tool and using uri module to verify if every urls of application is working, but now I also want to open browser , feed the URL and cross check my playbook result. How can I achieve this.
Quick comparison between Chef and Ansible..
1) need to install agent on the target machines where need to maintain the inventory in Ansible
2) chef is pull mechanism unlike Ansible
3) need to maintain chef server which is an extra overhead though it is very stable.
4)chef-client run needs clock to be in sync with chef sever however not the case with ansible.
Great information in a nutshell. Please like and subscribe to our channel and click on the bell icon to get new video updates.
How does ansible handle concurrency, version control and synchronisation?
It's clear and interesting

amazing video
It sounds like the main benefit over similar competitors is that there is no need to set up a client on the remote servers.

Best explanation
Very Well Explained !!!
Suggestion : Could you upload a video on How to install ansible local connecting to node in aws?
Few advantages which I can think of -
1 - Ansible - it’s use YAML command scripts which is easy to read and write
2 - Highly secured tool with SSH
3 - It is fast as the architecture is agentless
Excellent explanation..

Being agentless is a big difference between Ansible and Chef... so, how does Ansible gets the heart beats from nodes in the network without agent pieces?
The server pulls all required information from the clients over ssh. Therefore, the client has no control.
excellent video ...
Hope you enjoyed our video! We have a ton more videos like this on our channel. We hope you will join our community!
Dont need to have an overhead of installing clients on the nodes to keep poling the server for updates .
11:22 A weak point of Ansible is that is being announced it is agent-less, but then you figure out you need to fully setup SSH, and Python, on ALL of the machines involved. Well, you could as well install agents on each machine then ...
Mon Day - it’s a valid point, but only partially true:
*The overwhelming majority of devices in a data center, which aren’t windows, have SSH enabled for management as standard practice
*Python is default installed on standard installs of many Linux distributions, including Ubuntu and Red Hat/CentOS; in fact, even Minimal installations of RedHat/CentOS use Python, thanks to Yum/DNF.
*Ansible tasks may be delegated to other servers, most frequently the Ansible Server itself often in case of most networking modules in Ansible, so python is not even required on the target in case of network devices or if using the “raw” module.
*Finally, Ansible is technically not even dependent on using Python in the writing of its modules, or in ssh for its connection protocol; I’ve actually seen proof of concept examples of developers playing around who wrote Ansible modules in bash or windows batch commands, and all windows modules for Ansible are written in Powershell for this reason. It’s strength as a framework comes in using the tools that are expected to already exist on the target(s).
It’s not technically agentless, nor is it the tool for all jobs, but it is so flexible we tend to call it “agentless”, and unfortunately people sometimes try to do things with it (such as real-time network monitoring, or locked-state configurations) that it is NOT the right tool for.
Very nice, thank you so much!
btw in 14:41 you made a conclusion, but 3rd picture in 1st row - ANSIBLE - PULL Configuration tool, I guess PUSH?!? or? :)
hello sir, please change pull to push at the end of the video(in key takeaway part) , it's bit confusing.
Hey Megha, thank you for watching our video and for the honest feedback. We will definitely look into this. Do subscribe, like and share to stay connected with us. Cheers :)
i think ansible is better use for me than puppet and chef because ansible is ageless ,pushbase and is curve is very easy to use
