Hello Lady C. As a retired Equestrian, riding Show Jumpers…. I have a strong opinion. My Husband and I lived in Colts Neck, NJ for years. We had a polo field directly next to our property. During the spring and summer and fall, the matches happened every other Sunday. If I was not in show competition, I would attend the matches with my Husband. At first it was fun. All of our fancy Friends were there. Alcohol everywhere. Excellent food. I have Poodles now, ❤️🐩. But I had extremely well bred Rottweilers at the time. They were always perfectly well behaved and on leash, but I stayed in the background for the People who were nervous. That gave me a different view. First… alcohol and horses do not mix well. They hate the smell and everything that goes with it. I always showed up in paddock boots, maybe shorts and a light top. Maybe jodphers. The People were Way overdressed. All they wanted to do was socialize, eat and drink. The Ladies in high heels were a joke when it came to stomping the divets. Many fell down. Drunk as well. Ridiculous. Polo is a significant Equestrian sport, but the social aspect is awful. I stayed with my dog on the sidelines away from the people, but close to the groomers and trailers at the end of the field. This did annoy my Husband 😂, but He always got over it. We loved each other. I’m definitely hard headed when I see something, and don’t fight, but I will have my say. Polo Ponies are not ponies. Ponies are at or under 14.2 hands. Polo ponies are around 15.1. They are small horses, very quick, nifty and athletic. They wrap the legs for protection. Same in Show Jumpers, but way different. The jumpers were support leg gear, while the Polo ponies are wrapped with protective wraps because they are constantly hit with mallets, the ball and other horses. They are bred to endure pain and dominance. You see the horrible strong bits in their mouth. The mouth is often open in pain due to hard hands. They are called Polo Strings and often travel in stock trailers. 6-8. They needed spares. The elite Polo ponies have it a bit better. I had such disrespect when I saw what was happening. Use and abuse. After the match, they would load up the horses in incredible heat, after they gave their all. Sore and dehydrated and frustrated. The riders would then start their celebration while the horses stood in the trailer. I said a hard No. still kept the Friends, but refused to participate. They all knew my priority. My horses were giant jumping horses with very difficult temperaments. I treated them so kindly and that worked every time. I only used a broken snaffle without a twist. They totally trusted me, and I had soft hands, and they had soft mouths. They could feel the smallest change. I could close my fingers or sit up instead of forward, and that’s all it took. Immediately they would respond because we were a beloved team with each other. They loved me and our sport. A jumper is a jumper by nature. The thing with this Harry Polo thing… is that they will have to do a lot of editing. The horses do not like Harry. He is maybe 180 lbs, riding a horse of 1,000 pounds. Hard hands and competitive to the point of sacrificing the horse to injury or emotional abuse. I have seen several photos of Harry getting unloaded. The horse did it. Couldn’t take the abuse and fought for survival. Harry did not come off due to the physics of the sport. He was ejected. I never saw this with King Charles or William. They ride correctly. I don’t see how the Polo … whatever… can be successful. The People will see through it. He is ruthless to win at any cost. In my lifetime (62). … I came off a horse 5 times. Landed on my feet every time. It was always a startle. Never on purpose. I am nervous about this upcoming program because it could normalize thuggery as an excepted way to treat animals. 🥰🐩❤️

Thank you for that comment. So informative for me. I have seen a number of videos recently of Harry being tossed off by the horse with the horse just dropping his head. It looks to me that the horses do not like him. Almost like the ultimate insult. I did read of a match a few years ago where William was on opposing team to Harry. Harry’s team won because William refused to ride his horse into the ground like Harry.

It’s pretty obvious that Harry is nobody’s favorite. I’ve read that Peter Philips was the late Queen’s favorite grandson. I don’t know, but I would guess that Beatrice might have been her favorite granddaughter because Bea borrowed the Queen’s wedding dress for her own wedding. I don’t think Bea is very pretty, but she looked quite lovely in her wedding photos.

Before my legs were strong enough, I used dull, circular-shaped spurs with my horse. My spurs rotated so they would roll, not dig into my horse. I wish I had never used them but it was a short time and I did not dig them into my mare. I was sickened to see those wounds on Harry's pony. Go get stronger, Harry!
