You guys don't play drums so I get that you don't understand what's really going on and why it's so different , essentially Brooks is playing it half a beat slower then the original song so he's able to add all these little fills look at Mike portnoys version of it he plays it full speed and barley has any time for any fills what's so ever lol
Brooks is doing wonders by bringing a more mature and solid feel to Jimmy’s parts, which were just unhinged creativity and willingness to play with the melodies.
Banding2in gini gak ada abisnya. untung Brooks orangnya humble sama selow, kalo nggk mah drummer mana coba yg gak gerah kalau fansnya selalu banding2in sama drummer lama.
Disagreed. Even though he was technically far more superior than his predecessors, he had the tendency to overdo it. Bobby Schayer was (in my opinion) a way better fit. Don't get me wrong, Brooks did a stellar job, i just thought it was a bit too much live.
@@FanaticDrummer I wouldn't go that far. The guy definitely has a ton of dynamic range, there's no disputing that. It has however changed alot. I think every fan has their own favorite "era" of avenged vocals, although I'll agree some of the later production choices especially have been questionable. Brooks and Jimmy are both amazing drummers, but it’s futile to compare them. They have such different styles. Jimmy was a Metal drummer, Brooks is a Punk drummer. They’re both amazing at what they do
Great drumming by Brooks but he’s hardly being challenged compared to the stuff he was playing with Bad Religion and before that with Suicidal Tendencies but you can hear the marked difference in quality.
There’s no bad religion song that comes even close to the complexity of brooks drum parts in the song the stage lol. What are you talking about? Also I’m a huge bad religion fan
Ghost notes make certain grooves easier to keep in time. Tomas Jake does ghost notes in a ton of Meshuggah songs, you can’t hear them on record but you can see him doing it in live videos
Brooks is great but just not a fan of how it feels like he's jamming over a backing track rather than being faithful to the parts that have been written.

stop comparing brooks with jimmy guys .. i know REV was the best one because its was REV own Song while Brooks just took a place to being replace as a drummer in a7x ! for me his the one can replace jimmy!
He has an awesome feel in his playing. I love how he swings while keeping everything on point. That's real skill right there
Incredible drumming. I prefer Jimmy’s more thrash metal style for this song but I can appreciate it what Brooks added to it
Yea Brooks is amazing drummer but overall i like jimmy's drumming style More
Overall I really like his style, but do feel that the fills in the intro were over the top
Too busy for how simple the song really is. It actually makes the breaks more awkward because the drums are constantly stopping and starting.

Great capture.
Brooks plays it the way it would be played if the song was written today

And Suicidal Tendencies. His work on their “Freedumb” album is so good
He makes it look so easy
its just so easy so he make it harder
The biggest difference between these two takes isn't even the drums lmao it's the tempo and the vocals lol
Shadows vocals are absolute trash now lol I mean they were always horrible and whiny, with no dynamic range lol

Nice combo vid RIP Rev
ty for including jimmy so we can all see how it was meant to be played
