Eddie Vedder is the last major grunge singer still alive going strong, protect him at all costs
React to Temple of the dog say hello to heaven 1990
This song is a whole vibe, haven’t met a single person that don’t like it….Chris had a gift for sure….great reaction Recklezz!!!!!
I doubt that you ever will meet anyone who doesn’t like this song.
@@willasacco9898 right
One of my favorites… can’t go wrong with Chris Cornell …. RIP
Temple of the Dog Say Hello to Heaven, a song Chris wrote for his friend that passed away. Eddie is only on Hunger Strike I believe. Read the background for the group
Andrew Wood.
This song was written before pearl jam was even formed...Eddie had just recently moved to Seattle from San Diego.
They harmonize well. Something that doesn't happen as often in vocal arrangements these days.
Vedder and Cornell in one song! Love this song and love this entire album. Try "Say Hello 2 Heaven", "Wooden Jesus", and "Reach Down". R.I.P. Andrew Wood.
One of the best songs to really showcase both artists voices. However, it's Chris that just kills it in this song. His presence in rock is deeply missed.
Fucking A right.
Chris Cornell greatest voice of the 90s just like Chester Bennington in the 00s. Every decade has a once in a lifetime vocalist
Damn yall havent done “Outshined” yet its a must listen Soundgarden track
Rusty Cage is also great Soundgarden tune. Highly recommended.
This album is a tribute album to Andrew Wood, who was the lead singer of Mother Love Bone. Andrew, Chris, Layne.... all friends. Andrew OD-d and it caught them all off guard. The song from this album "Say Hello To Heaven" and "Would?" from Alice In Chains are heavy about Andrew. After his death the band signed on a new singer by the name of Eddie Vedder, and became Pearl Jam. R.I.P. Chris, Mike, Layne, Andrew, Kurt, and all the greats we have lost. My life is poorer with you in it. TY guys for reacting!
Eddie and Chris singing together! How can you not like it right! Both have amazing distinct voices.
The passion and meaning Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder put into their songs is unmatched. They will take you through that journey with them and make you feel it as if you were there too. They definitely have a way of making you think and feel the meaning behind their songs.
It’s Chris’s voice, his ability to intimately connect with the listener, and his love which put this whole Temple Of The Dog project together. Pearl Jam wasn’t even an official band yet and this was Eddie’s first studio recording. (And Mike McCready’s)
I'm a 60 year old musician, and i feel I have to like and sub every time I see younger folks broadening their musical horizons!
Never stop rockin', because music is life!
Soundgarden- Slave and Bulldozers. Yall gonna be amazed by Chris's voice on this one
That's the song " Slaves and Bulldozers" that Chris Cornell left Earth with his vocals. Insane !
Another great Chris Cornell song to check out is " Live To Rise " from the Movie "The Avengers" That song is 🔥🔥🔥
Slaves and Bulldozers is great but the live version of it is sooooo much better, if it's a good recording.
Eddie's voice is so powerful and so smooth at the same time and Chris is just a powerhouse
His voice too damn strong!! Haha, that’s the truth!🤠
Facts!! Lol
You need to do Chris Cornell solo. Billie Jean and nothing compares to you covers as well as scream accoustic . All awesome
Call me a dog, and Say hello to heaven are both great songs from this album
The whole album is great
Four walled world is the most underrated track
@@brandonstandberry8236 yeah four walled world is fire!!
Chris Cornell and Eddie Veder singing together was pure magic. They often sang this song together at each other’s shows over the years after it came it and it was just as good as it is here. Chris Cornell could hit those high notes and hold forever and it looked effortless to watch him. He’d chew gum when he sang this song and didn’t miss a beat!
This band was called Mother Love Bone until lead singer Andrew Wood died of overdose right before their first album released.
Chris Cornell of Soundgarden was Andrew's roommate. Eddie Vedder then joined some of the MLB to form Pearl Jam. Before that, Temple of the Dog.
Never gets old what a vocal performance
Eddie Vedder has one of the greatest voices I have ever heard...he could sing the phonebook and it would be amazing!
Their voices compliment each other for sure. I love this song, definitely one of my favorites.
You need to listen to Audio Slave. Its Chris singing with the band of Rage Against the Machine. Cochise is a banger. If you just want to appreciate his voice he sings Prince's Nothing Compares acoustically. Its amazing. It will give you chills
Everyone keeps talking about that cover, and yeah it’s great. As big a fan I am of Chris Cornell and Prince, that song belongs to Sinead O’Connor hands-down, IMO. (Just like ‘Hallelujah’ belongs to Jeff Buckley, although Leonard Cohen wrote it and practically everyone has covered it. )
But honestly, Chris’s cover of Michael Jackson’s ‘Billie Jean’ is next level. As another favor reactor of mine said MJ’s version is incredible, everything about it. But it doesn’t give you goosebumps. It’s when you slow that song down and really take the lyrics as seriously as they are meant...combined with Chris’s deliverance...wow.
Losing Chris Cornell was one of the most tragic days in music history. That sound in voice that’s similar is that Seattle/Portland, Washington state growl that was born with the 90s era of grunge, from Nirvana to Pearl Jam to Alice In Chains. Thank deep grinding sound is part of the genre. Chris started singing at a grade school age and had more range in octaves than his peers. You have seen his covers of Prince song called Nothing Compares to You, and Michael Jackson’s Billy Jean. I miss Chris. I miss his talent and his voice. I hope he has peace of heart and soul, singing with the angels. Free of all the struggle…. Inner torment both emotional and chemical. ❤️
I love both covers you mentioned, although I must admit: as much as I love Chris Cornell and Prince, to me, “Nothing Compares 2 U” belongs to Sinead O’Connor. (Just like “Hallelujah” belongs to Jeff Buckley!)
But his cover of Billie Jean- that is some next-level sh!t. As another (very popular) fave reactor of mine said about it: you gotta love MJ‘s version, it’s amazing...but MJ’s version doesn’t literally give you goosebumps. Slowing it down-really concentrating on the deep meaning to the lyrics behind MJ’s dance beat-and Chris’s delivery... it’s one of those that just leaves you nearly speechless, IMO.
ps- I noticed your name and (what I could see of) the thumbnail pic...I’m also a “cat lady” (currently only two cats and one big dog). No current Maine Coons here though, although I can see that changing at some point in the future, but they have to be rescues. I’ve had a brother-sister pair of littermates who’s daddy was a Maine Coon cat and they definitely took after him, in appearance/size!)
they’re such wonderful cats- they really are “gentle giants”. 💕
Say Hello to Heaven by this band is a must. Lyrically fantastic.
I’ve got a cool story about Eddie Vedder. First I worked for an insurance company back in the day in the special lines field and remember actually speaking to Eddie about his boat policy! He said enjoyed calling instead of his agent! Very down to Earth and later we were able to meet at a Seattle Pearl Jam show so he was able to put a face to the voice on the phone 📱. ILL NEVER FORGET IT! RIP CHRIS CORNELL. The Seattle scene in the early 1990’s is unsurpassed by anything going on today!
That’s awesome!
You have two of the best voices in the Grunge era together. Chris Cornell RIP. You are Awesome! Eddie a voice of my youth ridiculously Awesome as well!
Chris Cornell was on another level with his voice so was Eddie Vedder. Just subscribed to your channel love your reactions so genuine One Love from Dallas Texas.
The perfect blend of two of the greatest voices of all time and the depths with where this song hits your heart…
This song is so powerful and full of meaning. Chris just kills it. But it's actually Eddie Vedder's first video. Chris was working on this song and Eddie felt he could add something to it. And there you have it. Top 10 for me.
Chris might be my favorite rock singer of all time. And Eddy is no slouch either.
For sure CC is my favorite!
Haha the smiles on you guys’ faces shine like gold. Gotta love when you see ur own first impression on someone else’s face lol, especially when the faces aren’t ugly
1991’s supergroup!!! Pearl Jam and Soundgarden together as 1!!! Bringing me back to my high school days!!!!
Temple of the Dog..."Say Hello to Heaven" is a must listen.
Temple of the dog - times of trouble is also a great song
*Mike McCready (lead guitar in this) is from Pearl Jam...Temple of the Dog, of course...but also collaborated with Layne Staley, forming the band Mad Season and making just one album. I recommend songs by Mad Season often to a number of reactors, but no takers as of yet. So I will try again...try (by Mad Season): River of Deceit__Artificial Red__I'm Above__I Don't Know Anything.*
"Wake Up" and "Lifeless Dead" by Mad Season too!! That was an amazing album just like this Temple Of The Dog one is!!!
Oh and "I Don't Want To Be A Soldier" by Mad Season is great too!!
Two of the heavyweights of the 90s Grudge scene and arguably one of the theme songs behind the genre.
Nailed it again.Chris Cornell has a larger vocal range. Not over just Eddie Vedder but lots of artists.
Facts!! Chris voice is crazy amazing!
Eddie Vedder said this is the first time he’s ever heard himself recorded on an album.
I'm partial because I'm 55, and these guys were my peers. Arguably, the BEST music came outta Seattle in the late 80s early 90s. Listen to Chris, Layne, and Eddie..... then tell me different. God Loves Grunge!!!
I'm 55 n love 70 ,80s,90s,n up age is a number n I'll b rockin it till it's my time....Long live rock n roll. Omg love me my mrs Hill , Tupac n many more
If u like Chris check out more Audioslave, nobody seems to react to Audioslave and they were such a great band... like a stone, I am the highway, getaway car, shadow on the sun, show me how to live, cochise, what you are, exploder, light my way... the list goes on and on
"I Am The Highway" is good one by audioslave too!
Wesley yes they need to also react to set it off
@@jacoblordbanemastersithdes3072 yeah for sure that one kinda reminds me of the "Reach Down" track from Temple Of The Dog.
Director Cameron Crowe's 1992 film "Singles" brings a lot of what the grunge scene was like in Seattle. Including appearances by Cornell and Vedder. It is worth seeing to understand the context in which this style of rock was born.
Alice In Chains also show up in that movie.
@@AllenSJ5 Oh Yeah! You're Right !
This was recorded up the street from where I live now on the northend of Seattle area. This project was a tribute to Andrew Wood, a person much-loved in the Seattle music scene. To this day, he's the person probably most talked-about and remembered around here, locals in the scene absolutely loved him. He died just after his band Mother Love Bone were signed to a record label, he and Cornell lived together for a time. Pearl Jam came out of the ashes of Mother Love Bone.
Just some history for ya.
You are right, Chris had and has the voice that’s so effortless and yet so powerful. His high vocal range is pure bliss, truly can do anything and his screams are piercing in the best ways, this man moves you every time.
I HIGHLY SUGGEST you watch his acoustic cover of Nothing Compares To You, it gives me chills and tears every single time no cap
It should be noted that this album was dedicated to Andrew Wood (R.I.P.), the singer for Mother Love Bone (which also included Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam). A band most definitely worth checking out. Thanks for the reaction!
Mad Season is another great super group of that same era. Check out ‘Wake Up’…
Yep Layne Staley vocalist from Alice in Chains and Mike McCready guitarist from Pearl Jam were members of Mad Season! Mike was also in Temple Of The Dog. Now Eddie Vedder and Jerry Cantrell need to for a band and make a great album already damnit!!! 😂
This rock song got a lot of soul. 🔥🔥🔥
There is another song by this group that is really good it's called (Say Hello to Heaven) I'm sure you will enjoy it just as much. RIP Chris you are missed.
Man i miss those days 80-90s best years of my life I'm half a century old where did time go ?
"Four Walled World" is great too, probably a top 3 or 4 song on the album for sure!! It has a killer melody and Chris kills the vocals.
"Like A Stone" acoustic version at the Queen Elizabeth theater In Toronto is probably my fave recording of him ever.
Check out mad Season. Mad Season consist of Layne Staley from Alice n Chains and Mike McCready guitarist from Pearl Jam. WAKE UP is the first song on the album. The whole album is beautiful
Ok, gateway drug for The Pretty Reckless, check out Only Love Can Save Me Now. TPR was the opening band for Soundgarden when Chris Cornell passed away, and that song combined the talents of both bands to help them through their mourning.
Now you’re talkin! Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell in the same song is a duo we didn’t know we needed until it came out. Chris Cornell was taken from us way to early. He does a version of this song live with Chester Bennington of Linkin Park that’s chilling.
Yes, it’s an amazing song that’s why you like it. R.I.P. Chris. Great reaction! 🙋🏻♀️👍🏼🙌🏼👌🏼💜🇨🇦
And I can't feed on the powerless when my cup is already overfilled
Two of the greatest rock voices of all time on the same track together reminds me of Snoop and Tupac on 2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted. Legendary.
Say Hello to Heaven is another good one.
Man rip🙏Chris Cornell! You’re definitely missed! This was the early day’s of the grunge movement from the early 90s, what a great song and duet! Later the rest of the band became Pearl Jam! Grunge was born in Seattle Washington! Eddie Vetter is from Chicago, a big Cub fan!👌😎👍
Chris Cornell's voice is what makes you smile.
Also you should check out Mad Season - River of Deceit. It is Layne Stayle with Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready. Really beautiful song that was very popular in the day.
Yes I agree that whole album is absolute fire!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I think you can imagine how much I died and loved this in the early 90's being a fan of them. It was epic.
Temple of the Dog was a project that arose between friends who forged the foundations of Grunge in Seattle with the voices of the GODS Eddie Vedder and Chris Corner who owned one of the most powerful voices that has ever existed in the history of rock and that I'm still crying his departure.
Should do "Rusty Cage" Soundgarden. Massive song. Chris was the Tyranosorous Rex of grunge. Where Eddie sang very pointed and focused in a trance, when Chris entered his zone he stomped down every doubt in site. His vocals were the earthquake of grunge.
I think you are both correct. Both artists can sing low and high pitch, but what they did in this song (the production) showcased them in different pockets of the song. And they did it in such a way that it wasn't above the instruments or below the instruments. It was in the exact pockets it need to be to drive the song along a wave.
Great reaction!!! You both have an appreciation for for great musical talent. This was, essentially, Eddie Vedder's introduction to the world, as he became the new front man for Pearl Jam. Another great song from this album is, "Call me a Dog". Chris really pours his soul into this track.
Thank you!!
There is a live version of "Black" Eddie sings in Tribute of Chris that is pretty emotional.
Oh and "All Night Thing" is another fire track by these guys too!!
Two of the best voices ever
Professor of rock did a great in depth background video on this song and Temple of the Dog as a group. Well worth a watch or listening to.
Check out sound garden song called "spoonman", I am from Port Townsend Washington and a man literally plays the spoons and Chris came and saw him play and wrote the song. Amazing!!!!!
Yes! Love this! If u really want some chills from Chris check out his solo song ‘When I’m Down’ live at the Troubadour! Sooo good and so many goosebumps! 🙂❤️
Say Hello 2 Heaven live at Moore Theatre is Chris at his greatest vocally
I was in my late teens / early 20s when the Seattle Scene broke and living in BC at the time. Basically a second home for all these bands who toured the bar scene, mostly locally, before taking over the world.
Temple of the Dog, Chris Cornell, "Say hello 2 Heaven " sad backstory but an amazingly powerful song!!
I was there... and filmed them.
4 cameras. Discovery Park in Seattle.
I love this song! It truly is one of the greatest songs ever created.
Where is the feeling like this in music today? I don't know, maybe I'm just too old but I have an open mind and keep searching but I just miss this kind of music!
Yes Recklezz is jamming with them
U can tell he likes this song.I like watching his reactions to all artists
A few Chris Cornell songs you should really check out are:
Soundgarden - "Like Suicide" , "4th Of July", & "Black Hole Sun".
Audioslave - "I Am The Highway", "Shadow On The Sun" & "Getaway Car".
Definitely check out Temple of the Dog Say Hello 2 Heaven Live at Moore Theater 1990
One of the best albums of that decade every song is great one of my favorite albums of alltime.
It was a one album group made up of chris and matt from soundgarden and eddie (on 4 tracks) , jeff, stone and mike from pearl jam.this was there only video.it was a tribute to there friend andrew wood from another seattle band "mother love bone”who had died ,stone and jeff were also in that band before pearl jam formed.this is the first ever song eddie had appeared on it was of course before he joined pearl jam
Great reaction 👍🏻🤘🏻
Temple of the dog took two great bands and combined them for some kick-ass music even though they only released like 1-2 albums under that name.
Anything Chris does ..... fire, Say Hello to Heaven, know wha I'm sayin?
The Best grunge band ever
Chris is and still my favorite singer
This is the only song Eddie did with TOTD. Another song you should check out by them is "Reach Down" (Live @ Alpine Valley.)
Temple of the Dog - Say Hello 2 Heaven (studio version), and Pushin Forward Back. 2 killer songs that Cornell wrote and sings. Really he wrote the whole album.
..anthem of my youth. I was 21 when this was released.
Awesome watching a younger crowd enjoying this
Haven't seen you smile all the way through a song in a while.
The Seattle scene wasn't too kind to Eddie because he was considered an outsider but Chris Cornell took him out for a drink & took him under his wing. He's the one who put Eddie Vedder on Hunger Strike & basically started his entire career off. Chris was a really special man especially to Eddie, who was obviously beyond devastated when he passed.
IMO their best song is Say Hello To Heaven
this song never gets old!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chris was practicing trying to sing the deeper parts himself and it just wasn’t sounding right and he was struggling. Eddie happened to be around the studio and he said “hey man, I can do the deeper parts”… and there ya go!
