I don’t go to church at all - much less a Catholic Church. But from what Bishop Barron just said I know that I would be a Catholic (can’t believe I said that, I’ll probably end up deleting this).
"Be not afraid" It not you who seeks Jesus Christ; But our good Lord who will seek you.
You are always welcome in the Catholic Church. That's what catholic means - universal - for everyone!
In the same boat. Grew up kinda with it, lost it… years of pain and aimlessness. Through Bishop Baron and God speaking through him, I have slowly crept back into having a relationship with God.
Check out his Alex Friedman podcast… that single episode did more for me in over an hour than 31 years of poor catholic leadership and me searching couldn’t do.
God is waiting for you at The Catholic Church Brother 🙏❤️🔥
Depressed, suicidal, nihilistic, dead in spirit. To put lightly, I became these labels and always thought the catholic church was anti-intellectual for years. Yet, i have given my heart and mind to this tradition after being found by our lord, and i have been fed in heart and in mind, and my fruitless life has been thrusted to give fruit while i oddly abandon myself for others at the same time. Dare to be catholic my friend, shalom shalom.
And THIS is precisely why I'm catholic.
Thank You Bishop Barron!
As always, thank you for another beautiful homily. May God bless you.
I really enjoyed this homily. ❤
In one of my intimate prayers, Jesus asked me, “will you still love me even if I don’t give you what you want?”
I remember that line from Peter. I replied, “I have no where to go, Lord, but to you.”
you're playing make believe
The reason I converted from a JW elder to Catholicism. I went to my first Mass with a hood on so no one saw me, otherwise I would have been excommunicated from all who I knew, but when the bell rang I realised “Christ is present.”
I left the Jehovah’s Witnesses and joined the Church with my whole family last Easter.
Blessed be God forever. Bishop Barron has helped me along the way.
Powerful message, brother. Thank you! God bless you and yours!!
This sermon made me realize it must have been a real test of faith for Peter and the others to say yes and continue to follow our Lord. We hear the words now, 2000 years later, but if we try to imagine the scene and put ourselves there it must have been hard to stay unless one was absolutely convinced of the Truth of His words. Thank you Bishop Barron for this wonderful reflexion of one of the key moments of our faith as catholics. Que Dios lo bendiga 🙏🏻
As much as I hate this pandemic, it has brought me back to the catholic church.
I watched Dr Pitre Brant, sensus fidelium with the exorcist fr Chad Ripperger, Fr Lampert Vincent, Bishop Baron, fr Mike Schmidt, fr Casey ; fr Nark Goring etc..
I am so on fire for God than never before.
Above all, I have all the answers to all my questions that were making me wondering around in protestant churches.
It all started when my pastor ( Baptist church) asked me what catholic church believed about the Eucharist and I didn't know.
Then he said the catholic church kills Jesus twice because they believe in real presence of Jesus in Eucharist.
It triggered something in me that made me want to do my own research.
Here I am and my faith is so strong and I got to know our Lady of Kibeho too.
I am praying the rosary of 7 sorrows of Mary.
I will never go anywhere again.
Praise God . Amen 🙏
Hi, as a Protestant I can perhaps explain partly what you experienced. If you have noticed it before, then Protestants have a cross hanging around their neck, while Catholics have a Crucifix with a Christ figure on it. This is part of a very old and very sore wound that is one of the main reasons of why there's such a thing as a Schism between North and South Europe, the reason why there's a North-Ireland with Protestants and a Republic of Ireland with Catholics. Transubstantiation is the idea of the actual body and blood of Christ being in the bread and wine of the Eucharist, but it was also a doctrine very central when those infected by what the Church in Rome saw as the Protestant heresy, in trials that led to people being burned alive, because the word "transubstantiation" was not mentioned in the bible, then they rather wanted to be burned, then to do against their conscience. So any Protestant pastor with more knowledge then me, would certainly use the phrase that Jesus was being "re-crucified" by the Catholics in this matter. Of course that's not the case. And God's ways and God's thoughts are not humans ways and thoughts.
Personally I think it's a matter of remembering the body of Jesus and his blood shed for our sins, and that it's something spiritual that happen, and that people don't actually eat Jesus-meat, nor do they drink Jesus-blood in the Eucharist (sorry to phrase it in such vulgar terms).
I can only say I've also been around in Churches and struggled to find a place to call home. I'm very drawn to Orthodox Christianity myself, that is the original Christianity that the first Christians in the Roman Empire followed. I'm in Norway, so I discovered to my sorrow that there was only a Lithuanian church in my town, and that the service was done in Slavic. I'm very much against much of what happen in "Evangelical" churches, but at the same time I don't feel any worry.
What I feel is important is to do something of love, to help toss bags of sands in the damns that have been flooding the world with the heresy of Schism (that are clearly against the word of God), where people believe they are part of the "real Christianity" and that anyone else are bound to be lost forever. I think myself Bishop Robert Barron are doing a very good job, and I feel blessed by listening to what he have to say. But I'd like to claim that anything that divide brother against brother, and sister against sister, and weaken the body of Christ in such a way, don't do the will of God.
So God bless you. I hope you can pray for me and bless me back, and together we might undo what our forefathers did when they thought they did the will of God by killing brothers and sisters. I burn with love for all those that love Jesus, so Jesus be with you, amen.
I'm very glad to hear that you are focusing on your faith so intensely, and I hope that you will find in your journey both understanding and Fortitude. To the part on Jesus supposedly being killed twice, as I understand it: we believe as Catholics that at every proper Mass Jesus' body, blood, soul, and divinity are represented to the congregation. There is no need for a rebirth, recrucifying, etc. for Jesus to represent Himself, which perhaps becomes more clear when we focus on Jesus' divine nature which comes with it the recognition that God created Time, and thus is not constrained to it, as beings in Time are.
the Lord works in mysterious ways!!!
@@elvenkind6072 Transubstantion is not "an IDEA" You cannot explain anything, heretic protestant!!!
since you hate the Catholic Church, why do you believe the Bible the Church made in the year 382AD?
can you explain that?
Thank you Bishop Barron
I remember when we came into the Church almost 20 years ago. I received the blessed Eucharist for the first time. Walking back to my pew I was so taken by what I joined others with that same time, receiving Jesus body blood soul and divinity, I cried. I sobbed while I let Jesus lay in my mouth and tried to understand why he would want to be so close to me! What a revelation that I was involved with. Nothing has ever been the same with my life! Praise be to God!
May the Spirit of God continue to fill you to teach us 🙏
Thank you for this. Such clarity.
"THIS IS MY BODY" - Before becoming Catholic, I decided, this is either true, or idolatry. - JESUS SAID IT. I BELIEVE IT. THAT SETTLES IT.
Well said! I’m publishing a weekly UA-cam video on episodes from the life of Don Bosco, entitled ST JOHN BOSCO by JOE ZAMMIT. In this series I’m narrating events and miracles from the splendid life of Don Bosco. St John Bosco used to perform a miracle almost every day, through the intercession of Mary Help of Christians. From the lives of saints we can learn how to love God more and draw closer to him. Thank you

Dear Bp. Barron. You are a wonderful gift to the Church!
Thank you your Lordship for the insightful reflections.. I am edified indeed.
Let’s us once again pray for the poor souls that gave TRUTH a thumbs down. May their ‘stiff neck’ response soften to the WORD OF GOD!
Amen, one of your best sermons ever!! Please do not ever let us give up on ourselves or you Lord for your words are spirit and truth; you have the words of everlasting life. Please help us to hold onto this and you in this very uncertain time both through your body snd blood and your words!! God Bless you and your servant Bishop Barron!!✝️✝️✝️🙏🙏
The realization of the truth of this chapter is what led me to becoming a Catholic after 60 years in the Church of England. Another brilliant homily from the bishop.

@@Elaphe472 have you checked out “Judas betrayed Jesus” and “Peter denied Jesus *thrice*” yet? The people of the Church is always sinful. The Church, however, remains holy & one as Jesus himself has promised that the gates of hell will not prevail against it. (Matthew 16)

This comment by Peter is the most riveting in the entire bible. When I read John’s words I am brought to a very emotional moment and tears well up in my eyes because this is the reason for my Catholic faith. This gift is so far beyond any gift we could possibly receive and I am in awe every time I receive the Eucharist. Those words of Peter about Lord to whom shall we go
Sorry I messed up there… those words of Peter stay with me always and shock me into a reality of my faith. There is nothing else to sustain us.

I am Catholic, and I love those words very profoundly. But I think other religions don't defer from us because they don't think that was the body of Christ in that moment... what they often say to me is that is not the body of Christ today because the Priest es not Jesús or God. Thank you Bishop Baron for sharing your scholarship and insights with us. By teaching in this way, helping us to “gnaw” on the Word of God as well as His Body, we pray we can become what we eat. Great homily!! God bless you in your evangelization. We need this now more than ever.
I love Peter! He is my favorite apostle. So human. So questioning.
Same here. Saint Peter, pray for us
I'm in the process of converting to The Catholic Faith after being baptised Anglican as a child , in the past I thought The Eucharist was symbolic . Not anymore , I now know in My heart that Jesus Christ , My Saviour is truly present in The Eucharist & I look forward to receiving this Most Blessed Sacrament
Jesus has to be present in your heart and the Holy Spirit has to reside in you . The Eucharist is simply taking communion in remembrance of what Jesus did on the Cross nothing else . The catholic eucharist is a great deception , because you have no idea what the true Word of God has to say you don't read the New Testament . Catholics only use selected scriptures to fit their deceived belief system . Jesus said : you have to be "Born Again" to enter the Kingdom of Heaven . Jesus Christ is Lord He is risen and alive and the catholic Mary idol is demonic !
@@isrberlinerin4063 Holy Mary is the Mother of Jesus Christ & is alive with Him & The Father in Heaven , Jesus said " Truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life in yourselves.
@@isrberlinerin4063 Hey you....when you need an exorcism to knock that judgmental demon outcha body don't go looking for a priest! Catholicism rocks!!
@@united4631 Mary was a earthly virgin favored by God to bring forth Jesus , she had no other function . The catholic religion made her an IDOL . How do you know Mary is alive with Jesus ? It is mans religious assumption , not based on Biblical truth . How do you drink His blood and eat His flesh ,it is symbolic by taking communion in remembrance of what Jesus did on the cross . The catholic religion has turned it into something that supposedly saves you . Jesus is the bread from Heaven and He shed His blood on the Cross for the redemption of all humanity . Jesus Christ is Lord
@@isrberlinerin4063 Jesus Christ is indeed Lord & the only way to The Father on that I think We agree , Mary is The Ark of the New Covenant by bearing Jesus , not a mere woman that was used by God then discarded , how do You explain Marian apparitions or Eucharistic miracles ? Jesus said " Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day, for my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink.
" ... Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever eats me will live because of me.” this I believe & neither You nor anyone else will change My mind
Bishop Barron, I truly appreciate all that you do. Thank you for sharing your time and interpretation with us! God Bless!

This is one of my very favorite passages in the Bible. Of course, The Real Presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist is the entire reason for our Catholic Faith. And YES, I believe in the Real Presence. I love this homily very much Bishop Barron. Thank you and God bless you. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻✝️🌷🌼💕❤️
Bishop Robert, be a voice for the voiceless, this Covid 19 has created great hardships worldwide, we pray God will find a way to end this crisis. Open our lives and Churches, get back to normally again.
Probably the most important homily that any priest, bishop or Pope can deliver. To accept the Eucharist as the Real Presence because of Jesus' words is the defining line that separates the Catholic Faith from other faiths. On our death beds will we not say, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of everlasting life". Then may we hear, "Come ye blessed of My Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you...." Thank you, Bishop Barron, for this powerful homily!
Amen papa ⛪
Now that I know and believe the presence of Jesus in Eucharist, I don't want to touch it ever with my filthy hands.
"His words are not descriptive, but creative."
That was what I used wonder about how God just spoke things.. Like trees, different types of animals, water.. That was very beautiful

A brilliant homily; as clear as it is challenging. God bless you, Bishop.
Such an important homily at this time. Thanks and God Bless Bishop.
Check "Vatican's hiding of pedophiles priests"; BBC, PBS, "Vatileaks".
What a homily! Thank you, Father. And yes, Peter's words get me every time I read them. Those words are so moving because they signal a moment of complete surrender to the Truth. You can feel the shock and awe in Peter's voice as he utters those words standing in front of Jesus. Also, there is something very vulnerable in these words, as if a child, an orphan, saying to his adoptive parent: Where else can I go? You are the only person I've got in the world. And this echoes the words of Jesus: Unless you change and become like little children you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:3)
One of the most profound lessons from today’s gospel is when Jesus, rather than compromising his principles and watering down his teachings, let’s all of the unbelieving disciples walk away if they don’t wish to believe in him.
What a terrific teaching moment for parish priests, bishops, archbishops and all church leadership. Holy Mother Church’s teachings are handed down to us through the ages from Jesus Christ and can’t be altered to appease non-believers for any reason.
God "where will I go?" You're only one ,will not stop loving me..
Then Simon Peter answered Him “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life “ John 6:68 . Amen 🙏🏽
I agree. There is no one else to whom we can go. Who else has the Words of eternal life? Only Jesus. And only in the Catholic Church where there is the Real Presence.

Bishop Barron, I'm currently reading your book "Eucharist" so this homily is perfect. The eucharist is why I couldn't leave the Church to go to a Protestant church. It is HIM! We have the privilege of receiving our Lord as often as we can get to mass. What a gift!

What has long been obscured has now been made clear. Every parish priest, lay Catholic, doubter or unbeliever need only watch this 13:54 video if they have issues with 'the Real Presence' of Jesus in the Eucharist. Much to ponder here, Bishop Barron. “What Jesus says, is”. So simple, and yet, so powerful
Light bulb statement in being able to understand and explain the Real Presence!
Whatever Jesus say, is. Whatever God says, is.
Your points are well taken. In the summer of 2018 when the sex abuse scandal broke wide open again, as a survivor of the horrors perpetrated on my by the pastor of my parish, I was ready to WALK OUT!!!! I could no longer take the lies and hiding of evidence the church "leaders" were prepetrating on the faithful, indeed re-victimizing the victims of these unspeakable crimes. I was going to mass that day to tell my priest I would sit through this Eucharist one more time, but then, I'm leaving!!! Well, I couldn't catch him before mass began. This was the gospel for that day in August. I began to sob, and sob, as I echoed the the declaration of Peter, "Lord, to whom shall we go?" in my heart. Afterwards, I told my priest what I had come to do and say. He said he knew, because God put me, Pat VonFeldt, on his heart the moment he heard the awful news from Pennsylvania.
Through all of it, I've remained a Catholic, practicing, never to stray and fully participating. I love the Eucharist and make it to mass almost daily. I seek healing through the Body & Blood of Our Lord and through the intercession of His mother, my mother, Mary and with a special intention to St. Dominic and St. Catherine of Sienna. I hope, Bishop, that folks read this, that they hear your disertation on these most important words of Christ. He was not kidding around then, and he's not kidding around now... God's word is God's word.
You are a saint...God continue to bless you and your son..I have to ask you if you would think about speaking publically to our church. Your Bishop can affirm this call and guide you. THANK YOU FOR SHARING....there have been many tumes I had to look past the priest and just see Jesus.
@@jkgn4656 funny, that is exactly the gift I believe God gave me as a little child and through much of my live, that is to look past the priest to see Jesus. Much more I can say on that, but to answer your direct question, I would be interested in speaking to your church congregation. I've spoken at retreats and was interview by the Denver Catholic Register, published in November 2018. I am not that good at UA-cam communications, but if can back message me we could talk a bit. Or you can send me a message via Facebook. Of course I will be looking for guidance before ever putting myself and my story out there, but before that... we need to discuss a bit more. Thanks! Oh, and I'm not a saint, though I have been dubbed by my Dominican brothers as "St. Patricia, Woman of Possibilities"
@•Bishop Roberts Barron• I told Pat she should be speaking at churches about her story..Thank you Bishop
@•Bishop Roberts Barron•you've touched my heart with your words! I've told of the abuse to two other bishops. They politely listened, apologized for the Church, but never a loving word such as you have sent me. I am grateful & feel fortunate that you heard just a piece of my story. Bless you, Bishop! May God continue to shine His light in the darkness!
@•Bishop Roberts Barron• there is always a need for prayer on my behalf and all those victims/survivors. Even though I am many years from the trauma, I suffer from depression and anxiety and can be easily triggered... these are all set backs and so could use prayer for that.
And this is not a prayer request, but a question. I was told, the hierarchy don't really believe the stories of those of us who deal with repressed memory; i.e., I was abused as a 5-yr old, but those horrors didn't surface until 2002 when I was 48 yrs old. I've been told, there is a polite response from the Diocesean folks, but they don't really believe. Help? Maybe???
This bishop nailed it. He is a man that has truly understood, talked to, and submitted wholly to Jesus. When so many walked away when it was against their own personal convictions/traditions
Such a powerful and affirming message of our Catholic faith. The mystery of how God speaks into being our whole world and indeed the word made flesh in the holy Eucharist. I can only pray to keep remembering Peter’s response, as it’s the only true path to Christ and ultimately to God’s forgiveness. I am grateful for your teachings and pray your ministry continues to strengthen and guide our weary world.

Great summary. It has to be the conversation we have to unite our whole church. Without accepting this Christianity unravels. It’s easy to think the whole church could evaporate. But it doesn’t and can’t. Whether we like it or not, whether we choose one way or another, the truth still exists. If we ignore the truth it only creates problems for ourselves. Gods creation has no choice but to be true. It’s why sin has to come from the good and why no matter what the Lords Prayer will be fulfilled regardless of our own beliefs. So good not to be Luke warm about it.
Fabulous homily, Bishop. One of your finest.
