I'm on my 6th Grand Marquis in the last 25 years. I put about 250,000 miles on them and go out and buy another. The 4.6 motor is bullet proof and overall, very reliable. Car is so comfortable. Best deal for the money!
I have my first and it is fantastic, the perfect car! 2005 Crown Vic lx sport black and i fit my tools, a duffel bag, and more in the endless trunk. A car seat and still plenty of room inside, tinted windows make it discreet and more cozy. Its the family limo. I think they are great and want another afer this one.
I own a 1989 Crown Victoria LX, and even the classic Panthers' old 5.0L Windsor V8 are just as reliable and the cloth seats are like a living room on wheels. It is a beast.
I have a 2011 with 220K miles. I love the car but I hate the leather seat. I've had an upholstery guy rebuild the seat foam but they still hurt my butt after about 20 minutes.
I cannot say enough good things about these cars. I inherited my stepmom's (RIP Ruthie), 2001 Grand Marquis back in 2015. So it's 19 years old at this point with about 156k on the odometer. I have put new plugs and wires in it, new brakes all around, two new coils and a fuel pump on this car so far. I change the oil religiously every 5k miles with Valvoline synthetic blend. The car has cost me nothing to keep over the past 5 years as compared to my 2001 Audi that I had before it. It literally fell apart on me and cost me thousands a year to keep on the road. I LOVE THIS CAR. It just runs and runs and all you have to do is regular maintenance. Yes, it's a grandpa car, but it drives so nicely and is so roomy and comfortable and safe. It's huge! It has great pick up with it's 5.0L/302CI V8, and auto insurance is crazy cheap. It is normal to get 300k out of these easy, with little or no problem, so I will be driving this car for the foreseeable future. These are one of the best cars ever made and Ford is foolish in my opinion for getting rid of Mercury and for discontinuing these Panther body cars. I might just upgrade to a or 2011 or 2012 when my 2001 dies. That's how much I love and trust these cars!
DiscoDan : There are 61 cubic inches in a liter. The 4.6 liter V-8 is 280.6 cubic inches, not 302. The 302 really isn't a five liter. It's more like a 4.99999 liter. I have a 2011 Crown Victoria. It's got around 113,000 miles on it. I change the oil regularly. I've been told repeatedly by the Ford dealership in my town that my car really isn't broken in yet. They have told me repeatedly that the stupidest thing Ford ever did was to quit building this car. People are getting over 500,000 miles on this car. I hope to be buried in mine. I am having some electrical problems with the instrument panel in my car. If we get another stimulus check, I'll use it to fix my car. I won't take nothing for my car except another Crown Victoria, or a Grand Marquis, or a Town Car. This is one of the best cars ever made.
@@stevewilliams3850 yeah my bad on the 4.6L remark. I must have been asleep at the keyboard or something lol! Of course I know that it is the famous and indestructible 302ci is also the 5.0L. Not sure what where my head was? I've always been a GM person to be honest when buying American, but that has since changed. Ford maybe needs to come back out with the Panther body cars, but with electric motors since mpg will no longer be ridiculed by the environmentalists! Wishing you many more miles your Crown Vic
@@DISCODAN1 : I've heard of people getting over 640,000 miles on their Crown Victoria, or Town Car, or Grand Marquis. This very close friend of mine, his father sold his cousin a 2004 F-150 with the 4.6 liter V-8. That truck has a little under either 500,000 or 600,000 miles. I'll have to call him this week to make sure. I've got around 114 ,000 miles on my 2011 Crown Victoria. I'm told constantly by the Ford dealer here in this town, that my car ain't even broke in yet. I change the oil regularly.
In march 2017 I bought a 2011 ultimate edition. One owner highway miles of 200k but the car was stunning the owner oil excellent care of it. I put it in service as a HIRE vehicle. Kept up on oil changes and regular maintenance and had no major issues until a week ago when I lost compression in cylinders 7 and 8. It now has 278k miles. I paid 2500 for this car and it still is in great shape worth putting in a motor. Great cars.
These cars are bulletproof mechanically if serviced regularly and not abused. Put some stabilizer bars on from a Marauder, new end links, new KYB shocks and struts, new rear springs as the originals sag over time, and it drives nice. Other routine items to replace are the motor for the heat/AC blend door actuator which eventually goes out and the o rings in the electronic auto climate control module that get dry then the air flow doesn't go where you want it. Parts are inexpensive and something a DIYer can handle.
That car might cost you a little bit more gasoline but here what you used to have Cheap spare parts Strong body. Big space and relaxing seats A car that might live with you for a decade
I have a 2009 that has never been above 2500 RPMs and regular oil changes and maintenance, and the car runs and looks brand new. You would never know it has 306,000 miles on it. Mostly mechanical and better than the crap of today's cars
They are hard on gas in the city but highway driving I've averaged 30 miles a gallon if you keep it at the speed limit, but these cars don't feel their speed and you must use cruise control, or you will creep up and up. I have a 03 mercury GM with 100 thou miles, I must say it is the finest car I've ever owned and the ride and drive is like no other car except a lincoln/ Caddy ect.
I had a 2003 crown vic. 365000 miles. I now had a 2004 grande marquise ultimate. Love the the wood look steering, and thick black leather interior. 165000 miles runs great !
Dang, even in its FINAL year, the Grand Marquis stayed beautiful and true to its origin back in 1979. Too bad this is Mercury's LAST car before the brand sadly itself went down.
My dad purchased me a 2009 grand marquis ultimate edition for my first car it has only 34,000 miles on it it runs amazing, I don’t think I would drive anything else I feel very safe in my 09. It feels like I’m gliding I don’t feel any bumps I’m so happy with my vehicle.
For buyers, as a person who has sat in the leather and luxury cloth, I would recommend the luxury cloth. Its more comfortable than my grandmas furniture. Shes had that car since 2004 and it was used then, and smoked in since. The seats are invincible. I have no idea how it looks so amazing inside even with the smell lol.
I had a 1997 Grand Marquis GS for 12 years and loved it. BUT during the time I had it the head gasket blew twice 11 years apart. The first time it cost me $850 to get it fixed the second time I sold the car for $600 with 88K miles on it. I even had a separate set of snow tires for winter. Bought a Avalon, which don't even come close to the ride comfort.
One feature on my 2011 Mercury Marquis that probably is available on most of the Panther cars. If you forget to turn off your turn signal, after 10 seconds, you will be reminded by a loud 'ding'. That clearly is intended for the older drivers.
Many newer JDM / USDM cars: Are much better on fuel More powerful Safer Handle better Much better driving dynamics Brake better Accelerate better Much quicker 0-60 Innovative safety technologies And many can be just as reliable Even though I would be quite happy to have one of these as my daily driver, because it is truly a wonderful people mover. Don’t get carried away mate.

@@covid-192 Today’s cars are solid, just not the american brands. Toyota, Honda, Mazda... new Mazda 6 is damn sweet.
It also has a (pretty much) 5 star safety rating. I'd much rather have my family drive an aircraft carrier as opposed to a cheap rusted camry.
