    I know it's such a minor nit-pick at this point, but I'm kinda bummed that they removed the headphone jack.
    I know we can use dongle or that fan and so on, but it's just nice to just plug in my pc headphone straight into my phone.
    I'm probably one of the old soul.

      @@Conceptcreator to be fair, most phone with a dongle like that only left you with 2 options: either charge or headphone. But with 2 usb c ports it is much more convinient. It is still a downside tho
      Another thing to take into account is that most rog headphone recently is usb c instead of 3.5

      This phone is taunted as a game phone and yet the zero latency headphone jack is not built in (sure you can use an adaptor). Fail. The reason hardcore gamers prefer directly connected accessories is zero latency. A few seconds (even microseconds) lag and you're toast in games. So it's not being an old soul only. Its having the right stuff for a gaming system. Fail Asus. Other game phones all have built in headphone jack (as it should)

    Got the 16GB RAM version, it absolutely destroys multitasking. I multitask all the time, and this phone can do so many things all at once; but it also has very aggressive optimization features you can enable, and they will stop your battery from being drained unnecessarily. I started getting that random power drain issue from GBoard, I turned on the background optimization feature for that app and it no longer touches the battery life

    The presentation for it mentions battery settings. Does the phone have settings to limit battery charging so it will stop before it reaches 100%? I've been waiting for a phone where i can configure it to stop at 70-80% whenever plugged in unless i override, so the battery will last more than just a few years. Laptops do it, electric cars do, pocket computers should as well! Sony smartphones so far are the only ones, can limit to 90% charge.

    • @AzRon999
      @AzRon999 4 роки тому +1

      The ROG 3 does have a setting to limit charge, although the lowest setting is 80%. There is also a setting to limit the charge rate to 10 Watts. see ua-cam.com/video/0QLu9gMhQNQ/v-deo.html On my rooted ROG 2 it's possible to install an app called battery charge limiter that allows you to limit the charge to any desired level. I expect it would also work on the ROG 3 if you're willing to root.

    • @danwat1234
      @danwat1234 4 роки тому

      @@AzRon999 yeah, I think most other phones can do that too if they are rooted and install a similar app. I will watch the video and see if the stock phone can do it. Bought the 12gb / 256gb version without the fan and bought the Black Shark 3 fan for it (hopefully it fits around the ASUS) because the ASUS fan is cheap garbage compared to the Sharks due to it's active cooling via it's thermo electric cooler inside the fan. It's literally a heatsink not just a fan that blows.
    Also, it does seem to have water protection over the back vent and speakers, just not around the USB-C ports.

    As much as I wanna upgrade my ROG Phone 1 to 3, seeing the price tag for Elite Edition (plus tax). I might as well switch to Lenovo Legion Phone Duel (either 12GB/256GB or 16GB/512GB) for it's spec-to-price ratio.

    What ROG2 offer much better value than rog3 based on practicality of spec vs price
    I mean 5G? Its hard to acess 5G within this 1-3 years. The usage its like wifi. Need to go to specific location which is not practical. (At my country atleast)
    Have headphone jack which emergency use when Bluetooth earphones died.
    Battery same 6k mAH,
    Have copper vent & shining line design which looks better than rog3 tone down design
    Its a gaming phone 'capable' high refresh rate but most game still 60hz. Yeah... even my ROG2 set for 90hz only. Coz casual usage dont have urge for hz rate. Gaming is important to have higher hz rate

    Personally I think gaming phones are quite useless, let me explain:
    Gaming phones are a niche in the smartphone industry and they provided very small performance boosts over normal flagship smartphones. Anyone who can afford to buy this phone is likely very serious about mobile gaming. However, anyone who's serious about mobile gaming likely knows that most of the pros (yes there are pro mobile gamers) normally use an iPad. An iPad provides you with better performance than any phone or android tablet, and they have much larger displays, which is an incredible advantage especially in games like Call Of Duty Mobile.
    OEMs should definitely consider switching from making gaming phones to making gaming tablets, which I'm sure will make a lot of hardcore mobile gamers very happy.
    I probably could have explained that better but I've never been really good at explaining things🤷🏽‍♂️

      You won't see these on standard phones:
      1 - Built-in shoulder triggers.
      2 - Conveniently placed USB-C ports for landscape gaming
      3 - True Stereo speakers
      4 - Peripherals
      5 - Better cooling system to prevent throttling
      6 - many more, im too lazy to continue typing lol

      10 years ago, gaming laptop was a joke. a laptop back then get stomp on by even the shittiest desktop. And now... well i dont think i need to give evidence
      It does not matter that there is no proper uses as of now. This genre can only be considered useless if they has no application whatsoever in any given time.
      But who know what the future hold? I will not surprise that in years to come there will be external GPU for phone. Considering that apple are shifting their high performance part of ecosystem (which require dedicated gpu) to ARM, which is the same as phone chips

      they gave you a dongle, an adaptor to the standard headphone jack, of course, its just a band aid solution. but anyway if you can carry the cooler with it (with actual headphone jack), dongle is no problem.
      my problem is more on aesthetic, rog3 design is a bit lackluster compared to rog2, which is on its price spec, is the only real problem you'll have above anything else.
