Bobby was such an amazing person. His love for dance and music led him all over the world in into our all our hearts. Love you forever "Daddy Cool" RIP 1949-2010
That video is really interesting, considering it put Boney the legendary disco dancer VS. modern day dancers (hip hop, break dance and so on). Of course those break dancers look so awesome, but when we look at it more seriously, dancing is about following the beat. Modern day dancers doesn't understand that. They just do crazy stuff in order to impress the crowd . What I like about disco dancers is that they follow the beat perfectly they are part of the music. Dancing is not about yourself impressing the crowd, Dancing is about having fun and being one with the sound. The video is even more interesting when they show Boney taking the stairs to the next ground level (after being challenged by the break dancers), where he is eventually dancing alone (probably dancing is way around to the next ground level of evolution). I have the deepest respect for Bonney considering he never gave up to any imposed dancing style, he just danced the way the sound dictate him to do. Boney really "Feel that sound". Thank you for being yourself Mr Boney.
the meaning when he looks the breakers, he just wanted people loose themself in the music and start to dance: here is breaking is the top of the wildstyle dancing, something take you from inside so strong to make you move so extremely.... he look at the breaker with satisfaction in the eyes because he see a part of himself materializing outside, just like mirroring... bobby dance style is wild too but not extreme: its very easy concept in the video, very strong and clear. in the breakdance you can move as you want, everything is allowed when you got the rhythm inside you ,like Bobby ,he feel himself like a father look at his child when looking the breakers... people line him that they cannot resist to dance when they hear some music they are like possessed... final part on the video on stage , he just was taking breath and rest before going performing on stage : the stage for him its everyday life already,he know he s a sort of slave of his soul dancer instinct.. music is only things that really turns him ON , but maybe was only a dream! he was rest before going on stage in the 70' and he just dream about a future possibility where he s just a worker with double life and he cannot be anymore on stage: so the stage became thenormal life!: so here come roger sanchez with the message of the track: turn up the music!!
Haha funny to see ourselves back after all these years! We are the guys/Bboys in the music video! The lyrics of this song says it all: "Think it's time you turn on the music. Feel that sound washing over me. 'Cause every time you turn on the music. I can't control what comes over me"..... With other words... There's so much joy to find when you truly let yourself go on the music. Don't think just dance! In Boney's tradition we continue! ;D
This has been one of my favorite jams since I first heard it so many years ago. And I’m kicking myself for only discovering this video now, and realizing Bobby freaking Farrell is the star of it.

Once in a while I return to this video, a lot of nostalgia. Hope he enjoyed his time in the Netherlands. Especially because shortly before his death I discovered the music associated with Boney M and shortly after my discovery his death was announced and this song was released.
After the band split, he toured with his own group performing the band's hits under the name Bobby Farrell's Boney M. He also appeared as a dancer in late 2005 in the Roger Sanchez videoclip of "Turn on the Music".
Bobby Farrell (Boney M) appeared as a dancer in the video of Roger Sanchez «Turn on the music». In recent years, Bobby Farrell lived in Amsterdam. Artist died of a heart attack during a concert tour in the Ambassador Hotel in St. Petersburg on the night of 29 to 30 December 2010.

Seeing Bobby Farrell here gives me an awkward feeling, his manager stole from this man leaving him with absolutely nothing in the days that he made Boney M big.... Now he is doing his act like a puppet on a string.... For those who don't know, he was a member of Boney M.
Yes his manager Frank Farian "When asked him asked Farian for 100,000 marks he was told to sign some papers. He signed away everything - image rights, royalties, the lot"
He's not a puppet, nobody's pointing a gun to his head off-camera. It's sad how he left Boney M, but here he's been given one last chance to dance and shine and show us what he's got. Look how happy he is to be remembered and acknowledged, keep on dancing up there brother!
Turn On The Music!
Bobby farrell the best .R.I.P.
And to Roger Sanchez, RIP brother

Maybe also just listen and stop analyzing everything....

That's so true, dancing is really just about following the beat. That's why I find dance lessons so puzzling. Just move to the beat people!
