I'm still trying to process what happened and the fact that we not only made a big impact not just on Twitter / X but a really big impression on a lot of people to the point where our efforts got us recognized on Times Square. I'm glad and honored to have played a part.

The event was surreal, and I'm so glad it made such a big impression on the industry right before e3 season. Hopefully, some of the publishers know, that even backing Shenmue IV could have them make big news just like Sony did with Shenmue 3!
Hopefully someone wakes up and takes notice.

Y’all really showed out. Was not expecting the coverage and especially the billboard! I scheduled my tweet, and was glad to see the effort was not in vain! Perhaps before we all die we very well might see Shenmue 4!

I went out with a friend yesterday, eating pizza. He's not a big Shenmue fan or part of the community, but I mentioned Shenmue and he said "hey did you hear that they rented a billboard in Times Square for Shenmue 4?
It really shows the impact that ideas like this can have.

I wasn’t yet a fan of Shenmue to experience the hype surrounding the third game, so I absolutely hope I get to relish in that same enthusiasm if we see Shenmue IV through to the finish line. cheers to the fans over on Twitter - the screenshots they continuously share on there are what got me to pick the series up for the first time in February, and I can’t get enough of it. proud to have contributed to this month’s tweetathon, and loving the buzz it’s achieved

Congratulations on the success of the June 4th tweet and am glad to be one of the fans doing their part to try to make Shenmue 4 happen. I was thinking that it would be cool if you guys can have that video of the LetGetShenmue4 hashtag be displayed on the big Los Vegas sphere.

The Vegas Sphere is $350k for one day. Might need a lottery win for that but it would be amazing.
@@ShenmueDojoVOD At that point i'm pretty sure simply offering that money on a silver platter to Suzuki in person might be of more use than burning it on fancy ads that nobody cares about other than people marketing Vegas itself...
In reality we'd probably never have anything close to the money to do that.
The $40 we spent on Times Sqaure was well worth it.

This was incredible to see! It feels like we've grabbed the world's attention and now Shenmue 4 no longer felt as distant as it did before. Coinciding with each fourth, I'll do my best to add tracks to the Shenmue IV Imagining OST on top of the existing 6 to help promote.

I think for the next tweet, we also need to ask X users to follow the Shenmue Dojo socials (and anyone else involved in rallying these tweets), as that would help a lot in the long run. It might sound selfish at first, however, we need to recognise the fact that the more people who follow this channel, the higher the chance they will see these videos and consequently, they will be more likely to tweet again and again on each 4th.
I mean we will push as hard as we can on that front - as long as people get the message one way or another and participate following us is secondary but I absolutely take your point

I'm all for helping next time around. However, I no longer use xitter and I'm sure I'm not the only one. So, I'm curious to know what other platforms people did or would use. I use Mastodon and there's a vibrant gaming community there, so I'd be happy to lead that charge.
I also think the billboard idea is a brilliant one and will think on what the evolution of that approach could be. Possibly a billboard that's more geographically targeted/relevant or, perhaps, a projector or billboard truck outside Sega's offices? There could also be fun had with what technology is left from the mid-80s: newspaper ads, flyers, etc.
X seemed to have the biggest impact despite the fun and games over there.
Other billboards are quite expensive. Especially in comparision to the Times Square one. Think we saw one for Shibuya Crossing at £1000 for example.

I've got to be honest, I'd rather Yu and a better team make the Shenmue 3 that we'd all been hoping for....that fan game they released was....very rough.
Not happening. You need to move past 3. They're keeping it as it is.
Also that 'fan game' averaged a 7/10 so it's hardly terrible
Be very careful if you ever want to do such an event again, it must bring higher numbers, otherwise it may create the impression that interest is dwindling... and that's a quick spiral into becoming white noise for the public, and some mean articles from bored journalists with nothing better to do... In other words, it should be even more well thought through and executed. And timed... (in July?.. r u sure...)
