I also think he ate a fruit(?) TO become a god, he is the Monkey King. In Chinese mythology. Just the basis stuff, if you search up his name I'm sure you'll find more information!

The fruit that he eats is a peach from the immortal peach garden. He was guarding it and impulsively ate them all lol. The jade emperor got mad and banished him from heaven. Wukong got upset and stormed a party in heaven, eating all the food and these immortality pills. So at this point hes like 20x immortal haha! The jade emperor is getting really upset and so he gets Buddha to capture him and he gets trapped under a mountain for 5,000 years. I have actually read the book he is in (journey to the west) so i know his back story :)
