I'm a psychology transfer student with a very mixed background, and in the future I plan to develop another new field: neuroscience (but I'm not sure if this path is right for me). Hi, I really appreciate your amazing videos! They introduced me to the fascinating world of computational neuroscience and I’ve been hooked ever since. I’m currently a bachelor’s student majoring in linguistics and computer science (though my GPA is not very impressive) and I’m curious about the cognitive aspects of language. I wonder if you could recommend any schools or programs that focus on the neuroscience of language with a strong computational component. Thank you so much! I don’t have any background in neuroscience, so I hope you can suggest some programs that are open to students from other disciplines and suit my interests. I don’t mind where they are located (I’m from Asia, so I’ll have to travel far anyway).

I laugh because I have so many of the same books as you. I have gotten to the point where I am able to identify subject(s) the author(s) did not specialize in. And I code to recreate the figures in books now. I'm not in a phd program, but I should probably get into one since I'm obsessed with this field and the brain.

Heyooo! Any tips for someone with a background in chemistry planning on going into neuroscience/computational neuroscience? What areas will chemistry expertise better apply to or prove an advantage? You hear a lot about physics, maths, CS, biology and psychology students going into neuroscience but as always the chemists don't get much love :').
Truetrue! 100% it is used in the research on neurotransmitters, drug developments and for example neurotoxicology, but these are not really my fields ;)
Would it ever be possible to have a chat with you about being a PhD student? I've just started my second year and it's all so overwhelming...last year I suffered from not getting any results and it's hard to admit but it really broke me down to the point where I was thinking about really bad things. It would be a gift to receive guidance, I am kind of alone in this process.

Hi! I’ve been very intrigued with the idea of working as a computational neuroscience researcher. I am a young adult and just started college. I’m working towards my associate of science right now, but I’m not sure where to go next. I have little to no extensive background in these fields (other than simply being better at math and science in high school). I want to contribute to figuring out how the brain created consciousness.
I want to start working towards this goal in my free time as well. My main idea is picking up some programming at home. I’ve also been trying really hard to get a job that’ll provide me some skills and experience useful for this kind of future. I haven’t had luck though. I feel pretty directionless, and I struggle with self discipline, but this is something I really want. What can I do?

Hi Charlotte, do you use SQL in your PhD as well? I've been thinking about starting a PhD in computational neuroscience / data science but want to somehow incorporate learning better SQL skills into the picture.
No, I don't personally, but I'm sure there are labs that use it!
Do you have any kind of Research Opportunity {Remote or offline} - I am from IIT Delhi {I have worked on Image analysis researches before for Dementia and find It very under-researched}
I am already coming from a interdisciplinary field which is biomedical engineering and as a fresh graduate trying to get into another interdisciplinary feild, I find it so overwhelming. What do you recommend for a person like me, how can I pick 2/3 things and focus on them while already being all over the place?? Personally I don't mind being a jack of all trades but it leaves me lost most of the time. Also do you recommend any institution for graduate studies?
