Mason Mount definitely has had an incredible 2021. He is just one of those players you feel that despite looking back on the year he has had. He wants to improve and become a World Class player.

So refreshing to have a crop of young lads like Mason coming through for England, top top player, proved a lot of people wrong. Seem a lot more genuine than the England stars of the past which is quality to see.
That attacking midfield area is the strongest I think I've ever seen for England. Mount, Grealish, Foden, Sterling, Maddison, Smith-Rowe, Bellingham. That's just off the top of my head - I'm sure there's many I've forgotten or have yet to come through. The new golden age!!
When Southgate started Mount, Grealish, Foden, and Sterling against Hungary in c.Sept 2021, they were all awful. Playing attacking midfielders who don't compliment each other or the team, handicapped England for nearly a decade [remember Lampard and Gerrard]. Southgate took England to their first final and 55 years [and tore up countless other records] by emphasising on defensive midfield, not attack.
@@sarl2121 It's a matter of finding balance and playing with the right tactics. I can't think of another game where they all played together, so they were never going to be that coherent. Given time I think the 4 of them could easily play together.
