Are you serious...this thing cost around $22 and it's just the fitting to put the balloon on and then in your nose, which you don't really need... that they're selling you. ANY average size BALOON WILL WORK WITHOUT the fitting. Just put the opening of a party ballon up your nose and kind'a seal the area around gentely, with your fingers and BLOW! The balloon will inflate and the same effect takes place. What a racquet to sell balloons (and a fitting you don't need) for a 1000% of their intial cost!
A normal balloon won't do it. The thing with the Otovent is, that it's built, so there is a certain pressure in it, and this pressure is the best pressure to solve your problem. That's also why the ballons are made of latex, which normal balloons aren't
@@marydonladson8162I doubt there’s a perfect pressure and anyway it matters how much you blow it up and how work out the ballon is so you could recreate the same pressure with any 100 pk of party balloons
The balloon literally won't deflate when I do it 🤣 my eustachian tubes must be clogged to hell
Eustachian tube blockage shouldn't stop you from being able to breathe it back in. It's just breathing in through the nose so it's the nostril that must be blocked. Can you breathe through your nose?
Today my first day using this tool , I did all that in both ways for both ears but non opened, the air stays in the balloon and I feel nothing just pressure of the air trying to escape from my nose 😢 why?
I know this sounds daft, but how should the air go back up your nose? Do you breathe it in or should it shoot up your nose automatically when you swallow?
I have had glue ear for a few weeks now and purchased this as the valsalva does not work. This is just a more expensive valsalva and it actually put more fluid in my ear and made me more deaf. This is a very risky device and if the valsalva doesn't work, I would highly recommend steering clear of this.
Thank you for this! I’d totally forgotten how to do it and only like doing the water version
That’s cool. Going to have to try this!
But what do you doong with air from balloon? Swallow it??
It gets pressured to the ears and goes out shouldn’t be swallowed, if it is shouldn’t be bad
For a flight, should you use this during a flight (on take-off and landing) or only after the flight when you're no longer in the air? Thanks!
@@RNScrub Thank you! Any thoughts on what to do during the flight to minimize the issue?
Thanks for the great advice 💯👍
Thank you, very helpful video.
Thanks for shayry,I didn't realise you had to let the air back in!!! I've been doing it wrong !!!!
Today my first day using this tool , I did all that in both ways for both ears but non opened, the air stays in the balloon and I feel nothing just pressure of the air trying to escape from my nose 😢 why?
I would follow up with an ENT you do not want to cause more pressure if it’s not working
Hello in terms of effectivety is it just the same as the vasalava manuever?
Hello, I have had pressure in my ear for a year now. The doctor prescribed me ottovent. I've been using the method for 5 days. Is it normal that I don't feel any change or is it still too much early ?
Thank you sharing this . Really helpful 👍
Thank you for sharing this!
I can’t blow the balloon up with my nostrils any tips
Just blow with your mouth. And then put it to your nostril, while keeping the other nostril closed with a finger. Release the ballon and sink one or 2 times. Then air wil get in you middle ear
I went to the dollar tree and got an assorted balloon bag and cake decorating tips. $2.50 instead of $30, lol. Using the smaller balloons and 9" ones. Works great!
I’ve just got this and I can’t blow it up with either nostril or my mouth. Just been diagnosed with glue ear. Not fun.
Hi there Jerseypooh. Have you still got a blocked ear? I have had a blocked right ear for around a week now after a cold. Have bought this to try and see if it clears my ear…
@@chicoingles1 did your ear unclog did this work I have the same issue clogged right ear from cold
@@Dykestrike hi, sadly not, I tried it a couple of times but it didn’t make any difference. My cousin, who is an audiologist, recommended the product to me as well. My right ear actually unblocked itself last Sunday (I also visited a hearing centre last Friday and was advised that I would need to wait it out as there was no ear wax present in the ear). I still hear popping sometimes now though…
@@chicoingles1 Are you ure, you are doing it right? It is not the actual 2blow the ballon up" that help. Yoú can just blow it up with your mouth. The actual treatment is to sink one or 2 times, while you are holding the blowed up ballon in one of your nostrils (and keep a finger on the other). That manuevre will blow air in your middle ear
Very Helpful video and very nice product. I have it and it gives relief
Hello, I've been feeling bubbles in my ears for almost a year, I went to the ENT doctor, he gave me corticosteroids, they performed a CT scan of my ear and everything went well. however I still feel the bubbles. The doctor told me that it is patience that he sees that my Eustachian tube is working but that it is lazy. I started using otovent 2 days ago but my ears get clogged a lot, and after using it takes a lot of time
in the ear to uncover. Is this normal for the first few days?
It’s normal since the ears have to get accustomed to being unglued and open up. Sometimes could be a chronic issue all varies
Hi there. Did the Otovent help your Eustachian tubes? I’m seeing mixed reviews. I’ve also had crackling in the ears for quite some time, but recently the left feels more pressured.
is this dangerous? can something happen?
Should be fine as long as you don’t squeeze the balloon pressure in the ear. Just follow instructions and should go well
I used one of those push-top caps that come on kids drinks (or some sport water bottles) and just closed the tip, put a balloon on the wide end, then went through the second option he showed and it worked!!! I just saved myself $37.70 because that's what those things go for on Amazon right now. I am all for people trying to make a profit but that's ridiculous for what this product is.
pretty cool idea, try to make a video on it
That wouldn't work properly. It has to be a certain pressure in the ballon. The Otovent-ballon is build to get the right pressure. A normal ballon has another pressure
@Mary Donladson nah, they say it's just a regular latex balloon, the balloon quality doesn't determine the pressure, its how much you blow it up. That's why a balloon with little air in it won't pop if you stamp it, but a balloon with lots of air will.
@@marydonladson8162 Though u may be correct that they have a different pressure, they're actually close enough to achieve the same clinical result. There's actually a study on this, this was their result.
@sarahbailey can you pl tell which brand of kids drink you used for this ?
