I've been keeping an eye on this one. Seems to be a fun mixture of Hades combat, and Revita's take on using your health as currency. I like the visual style too, which gives a cuter cartoonish look to a world that would be a lot darker otherwise, like Hollow Knight or Little Inferno. All in all, seems like a win to me, and I'm going to continue watching for it's release. ... glad I'm not the only one that's let their kid grind meta progression for them, lol! My daughter loves to play, and I don't mind letting her sometimes if it lessens what I have to do :D
Yes, I had a ton of fun with it and am definitely planning on playing more of this. Agree hands down on the mixture you mentioned. I'm so excited to hear that someone else does this!!! I went to the gym last night and told my kids, "The TV is on, Whiskers is already running... If you feel like getting out there and earning, you will be aiding me in my journey." They both laughed and I returned to 20K in VP points. 😂
There are many different thoughts on this, but I'll be happy to share mine... Roguelikes are normally going to fall into the camp of losing all of your resources, gained capabilities and powerups upon death. Each time, you'll be starting over fresh with the "progression" really being driven by what you've learned from each run. Noita is a prime example of this. Where roguelites differ is in the meta progression side--or, in other words, the earning of permanent stat progression (more health, more magic, more stamina). If a rogue has a skill tree where you're earning currency each run, bringing it back to a hub world and spending it to open up permanent stat boosts, that's a roguelite. Between the two genres, I typically find that roguelites are the easier to eventually conquer given that you can grind for a bit, earn the progression points you need and conquer the Big Bad in your way. I also tend to gravitate towards roguelites and I've been known to morph roguelikes into roguelites sometimes via the use of mods and creating my own skill tree. If you take a look at my Twas The Noita Before Christmas series, you'll see how I gradually added to the starting Max HP every run to allow for an edge. Doing this made the game more enjoyable for me.

What's the difference between Rogue-Like and Lite?
