  • Another update on how some of the cactus seedlings are doing inside the Mars Hydro grow tent under the TS1000 grow light. More growth on a lot of them in just a month since the last update. We also have a monstrose asterias, an asterias 'Kikko' Turtle Shell and potentially some variegated Gymnocalyciums.

    What an update, Sweetheart! 😍 I thought cacti grew slooooooowly but these seedlings seem to grow rapidly! You have some amazing seedlings for keepers. 😉 I am learning a lot about these seedlings growing nicely under the consistent light and controlled environment from Mars Hydro grow light and grow tent. They do such a wonderful job on these plants. As for the barrel cactus seedling - I’d say keep them all in a larger square pot or community tray to save space. You have tons of of seedlings and I can foresee an issue with space pretty soon. Super loved the new graphics like so high tech and pro! 🥰 Loved watching this update with you, Sweetheart. Well done, as always! ❤️🤗😘🌵🌺🌸🌼💚

      Thank you so much my love 🥰 Yeah amazing growth, just shows you what consistent light can do, a nice gritty mix, good air circulation and relatively low humidity in the grow tent as well, they’re thriving. Yeah I’m leaning more towards keeping that barrel cactus clump together when I repot it, maybe into a nice bonsai pot or something off centre with some larger rocks or something around it, like a mini desert environment lol. Glad you liked the new graphics babe ☺️ Enjoyed watching with you as always my love, thank you as always for all your love, support and encouragement ❤️🥰🤗😘🌵☀️🌸❤️

    Oh WOW your seedlings are growing and looking AMAZING Daz :-D they all look so perfect and happy and so healthy, you have tons of real Gems there, so many different varieties of beautiful Cactus Seedling cuties, the spiny barrel seedlings will be wonderful to pot up in a clump as I think it would be a challenge and time consuming to separate them all haha, thanks so much for the wonderful update and for sharing Daz, and Hans and I are sending you and beautiful Edith lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to England and Singapore for a wonderful evening ahead XXXX

      Thank you so much, Lyn 😊 Yeah I’m really impressed with how these seedlings are doing in the tent under the TS1000, amazing growth on a lot of them. Haha yeah that clump of barrel cacti will be a pain to separate, but I think it might be a cool thing to try just potting them up as a clump into a bigger pot. Thank you so much again for watching and commenting, Lyn. Have a wonderful afternoon and evening from Edith & myself to you and Hans ❤️🌵☀️🌸🌺🌼🏜

    The Astrophytum asterias seedlings have some really awesome little mutation gems in them!!! 😄👍 Really cool!!! Hats off to you for growing Parodia werneri from seed!!! I just can't keep em on their own roots!! You have a wonderful little cactus farm in that little tent!!! Great stuff in there!!! Terrific seedlings!!! Love the variagated gymnocalyciums!! Hope they stay true for you!!! Strange... How the desired variagation could grow to variagate it's self to death!! Crazy!! Thanks for sharing Daz!!! Thank you so much, Clyde 😊 Yeah definitely some keepers from this lot. With the Parodia werneri I think it’s over winter time they need keeping a closer eye on, they can be susceptible to root loss like some other Parodia. I had a few that shed their roots last winter and it’s taken them all summer to grow new ones back. Yeah I hope the more prominent variegation in the Gymno remains on it. Thank you for watching and commenting as always my friend. Have a wonderful day from Edith & myself to you and and Deb 🌵☀️🌼🌸🌺🏜

    Great seedlings looking totally awesome!😄 They are doing greater by the day, definitely some great ones to keep an eye on!
    I think those seedlings you wondered about keeping together or separating would be a great experiment, but perhaps to reduce losses maybe separate the whole bunch into a few bunches and repot like that, that's what I'd do if I was thinking about keeping them as clumps, maybe keep some singular ones as lone cactus if you spot any that look really nice 😄
    Great video Daz! 👍🌵😊

    Holy Molly! Your seedlings are growing so fast. 😃 That light and tent combo is doing its job. Of course, your growing skills play a big factor, too. 😉 Those Rigidissimus are bigger than mine now. 👍🏼 The unknown barrel clump, are those the seeds I gave you? If yes, then I wouldn’t keep that many together as a clump as they will grow big. Mine is 3 years old and is in a 3.5 inch pot and is fat. 😁 I believe it is a Ferocactus type. The cactus where I got the seeds from was 2 feet in height. I suggest to break them into 3 or 4 clusters and grow them from there. The mutations on your seedlings are so interesting. 😃👍🏼☕️

      Thank you so much, Ana 😊 Yeah those unknown barrel cacti are from the seeds you sent. I might split them into three separate clumps then rather than keeping them all together, but we’ll see when the time comes. Very good results Daz,a good combination is in my opinion the main reasons
    ,good substrate, good care and in a good environment. You said you was planning
    To keep a large group together, me I would separate, the more dominant
    Will always take from the weaker to survive, that's life unfortunately,

    Hmmm, it might be interesting to keep those unknown barrel cacti together to see what happens. Why not take a few on the outside, pot them up in individual pots and pot up the rest in one clump, best of both worlds so to speak.

    What level of light intensity (e.g. 50% on the dimmer dial) are you growing the seedlings under? Cheers!

    • @Cactimania
      @Cactimania  2 роки тому +2

      I started out at about 60% to begin with when they were first put into the tent, and gradually increased that over the weeks/months in 5% increments. Right now it’s on 80% which seems to be a good amount with the height of the grow light at 18 to 20 inches above the plants. They probably could take full brightness but 80% is working out nicely, nothing is too stressed with too much light and nothing is stretching with not enough light. I have the light on for 12hrs a day as well. Cheers for watching and commenting 🌵☀️🌼🌺🏜

      I do have a fan in there that’s attached on the roof of the tent that blows air down onto the light to keep it cool, and also provides air circulation for the seedlings. I left them sealed in containers for too long, almost 8 months and some were beginning to rot. They were already a good size at this point and didn’t like the constant 100% humidity inside the sealed containers. Most have recovered now and have regrown new multiple/heads.
