I feel the same way about cars, which should be a mode of safe transportation, so i do see your point. However, a state of the art McLaren of BMW car can exceed $200,000.00. Steve Jobs yatch ran 400 million. How close to perfection do you want to travel and how much can you pay to get there ?
Michael Kem I would rather have the sound played back just like the original recording and not try to improve it in any way. I do agree this is excessive luxury like the BMW for those who have money to burn. I would rather use the money for a better cause.
Here's a funny story I told my wife I wanted a nice turntable so weeks go buy ,she knows Nothing about Audio, she tells me im buying you one on Ebay ,I how much is it $235 what brand is it VpI prime I Said WHAT ! Did it get trashed or something She said no it New ,I walk over Its just The Dust Cover for the vpi.. lol .....I wish
P.S. I spotted another discrepancy when Mr. Deal only mentions the one larger thumb screw by the VTA pillar to be able to adjust VTA "on the fly". But there is another smaller thumb screw towards the front by the tonearm rest that also needs to be loosened (and then re-tightened when done) to be able to freely raise or lower the VTA. Just offered as FYI for other's benefit if they should happen to reference this video for setup help. I know it's only a "quick & dirty" overview but that still doesn't mean it should be sloppy or inaccurate. Cheers!
I noticed that as well. Nice way to damage this TT if you only release one screw and then try to force the VTA to move. I know there are sober people who just appear high, but in this case I'm thinking something special get sprinkled on his cornflake each morning.
Ok two things... First, the tonearm cable is *not* Nordost Valhalla. It is the new Nordost "Reference" cable and thus part of the reason the new JMW-10 3DR tonearm is referred to as "Reference" Two, no, you cannot tell anything special about this tonearm wire (which was wrongly described as Nordost Valhalla) "by looking at it" simply "because it is a braided cable". Every tonearm wire ever used on these JMW tonearms have always been braided, at least ever since I have been involved with VPI. The original VPI cable, Discovery cable, Valhalla, and the latest Reference have ALL been braided (except for Valhalla since the four strands were silver colored and not the typical red, blue, white & green) On a minor note, of course we know an HR-X weight won't "clamp" the record, as well, it is not a clamp but a record weight. But at least Mr. Deal saves it by correctly describing the net effect of "settling the record down" Other than that cool video!
It's likely all copper but I honestly never really asked Nordost. You can always pick up the phone and ask them if knowing makes such a difference to you. I just care that it works brilliantly. I don't need to know it's composition. Cheers!
Roccstar Actually he sounds like a "I know everything " guy and what he doesn't know he chastises a person who wants to know what he doesn't."How dare you ask me something I don't know! Now I need to degrade you!
“Special MDF material”? He means what they make speaker cabinets out of for cars and cheap Ikea furniture. Pony up now for some pressed wood dust and glue. Oh wait, there’s a discount!! LMFAO
I could not be bothered to change the VTA based on record thickness. I have records of all different sizes and they all sound good no matter what. I really cant se anyone actually doing that. Its nice that you can but lets be real no one has time for that.
Thanks for the great video, do you have any plans to review VPI Avenger TT? and if so is it possible to compare it with Clearaudio Innovation TT. I'm planning to get a TT from you in coming months but I'm not sure which one. Thanks.
is the tone arm adjustment the same on as found on 80s dj sl1200s by technics. Its a record no more , no less ,,, they are not that great to start with ,, lets face it the sounds were on tape before they were pressed into a lump of warm plastic I cant understand why folk get hung up on microns here and resonance there etc ,,, they guys who recorded it were probably half deaf , most engineers are ,, and either hung over or high at the time they recorded it and worse when they mixed it.. after that who knows , cut to the basics , is the hole even in the middle of the record ??? wheres your microns now.
The whole analog audio industry is gone to "F**k U" state! They seam to be doing everything to implode rather to attract a new consumers in their late 20's and 30's. This unexpected vinyl revival will be (unfortunately) short lived. R.I.P.
I for one hope that vinyl never completely goes away. Having beautiful album art and any other extra's that the digital world seemingly couldn't care less about makes a vinyl LP something to cherish. It might not be the best in terms of audio quality, but the complete package blows anything those hawking digital crap have come up with thus far.
A dust cover for that costs more than most peoples whole turntables.
This TT with an Ortofon Cadenza Bronze sounds spectacular.
I bet!
very good salesman. I'll be right over after I sell my grandmother. She'll understand
When do you get to the point where the playback equipment cost more and is more technical than the equipment the original record was recorded on?
That point was passed in the 1960's.
Michael Kem you are probably right so why spend so much money on a turntable like this one? I don’t see the point.

it will never happen.

i got one of these for my 16th birthday and after a year and a half it still is perfect
For real? Thats a crazy gift
@@jdsofar my uncle got the turntable and barely used it so he gave it to me

The turntable is a work of art. The cable is work of Basquiat art.
stunningly beautiful .

'Special' MDF plinth? is that an oxymoron? not to mention the fact that 'reviewing' ones own products is problematic in itself.
I have braided cables in my cat 5 network cables too.
And no sound played from it
I can not hear you
