It was first released in Japan on 4 March 2000, in North America on 26 October 2000, in Europe on 24 November 2000, and in Australia on 30 November 2000.
I am sorry the thumbnail photo is not in the video, I couldn’t find, maybe it was just a picture taken by a good friend of all of us. Used it for thumbnail because it looks so clean and attentive.
Thanks to all those good people who filmed those for nothing and kept the nostalgia alive.

Funnily enough, I have a launch day SCPH-10000 PlayStation 2 and upon looking at the back of the box, it had the original purchase date of 4/03/2000. Someone in Japan must have been over the moon when they bought it on that day.
The original owner also kept the Utility Disc V1.00 recall paperwork, but never surrendered the disc. Hahaha

Not really. Now we can experience gorgeous graphics on massive TV's.. The average mans dating life was 10 times better back then compared to now, but the experience you can get gaming wise is much better obviously.

We're poor and a Playstation is a luxury where I live when I was a kid , and only 1-2 friends and maybe 5 people in our school has playstation 1 , and most of those kids dont go out much, Hell if I had PS1 I wont go out much either, My memories in PS2 was playing with kids in our neighborhood WWE smackdown heres comes the pain . we're like 12 -15 kids taking turns in just 4 controller , good times eventhough only for a very limited time.
I still have a playstation2 connected. Always playing something.

There still is physical discs and content for people like us who like to actually see and hold put the game in to play. Some to collect but yes it has been alittle less lately.
No the good times were when we lived in the caves hitting things with a stick.
Physical disc decay and breaks down with time, and physical disc will be nothing without all the digital updates
Oh man, I was there on launch night too. Paid it off ahead of time and was around 15th place in line at my local Software Etc. for the midnight launch. I was guaranteed a system, but the memory cards were first come first serve. The guy in front of me (in one of two lines) was taking forever, and by the time it was my turn I ended up getting the very last memory card.

I was like 1 years old the PlayStation 2 came out. I was young but I grew up with ps2. I have it today and played need for most wanted on it. PS5 got the graphics but ps2 has the memories.

Esos tiempos eran mágicos. Aquellos en los que llegabas a tu casa con esa caja, la abrías, conectabas la consola y te quedabas con la boca abierta al ver un cambio generacional que de verdad que justificaba la compra que habías hecho y además con títulos de calidad. Y no como ahora que te gastas dinero en una nueva máquina para que solo 5 o 6 títulos expriman la potencia y el resto sean juegos que pueden correr en un móvil y además están pensados para ser monetizados al máximo en lugar de ser divertidos.

@@starrims It's because this video clearly states "2000" in the title. But that was moot because you shared a clip of a gamestop guy comparing the PlayStation 2 and the PlayStation 2 Slim, the Slim PS2 Model released in late october 2004, which also isn't the original release year of 2000.

i still playing with my ps2 on my sony trinitron 27" crt tv, i have the fat and slim versions and bunch of games. i recommend you to play your ps2 with the blueretro adapter, playing with a ps5 controller is an amazing experience.....best game console !!!

I remember a time when you could still buy PS1 and N64 games at Funco/Eb/GameStop well after their life cycle had ended. Usually it was just blank dvd cases with the title written on them or behind a glass case.

Absolutely. They are justifying it saying carbon emissions and low resources but digital library needs more resources if anything and hence carbon emissions, considering huge amounts of energy to run servers, storage to hold databases. But the fact is digital will never die from now on and so they don’t want to continue doing both medium :(
Back when you walked in to a store went straight back Home turned on the TV and played the Game there you go Brand new console October 2000 $149 it's yours NO scary DLC, no scary early release bugs it was a actual console and real games i really thought the upwards of 2000s was going to be the best oh my was i wrong but some games of today are good but not many sadly !

PS1 was released in 1996, And the use of home camera only got available in 1997 that’s why its so hard to find if there is any.

Got mine day 1 in the weirdest way. Went for it late in the day. Walked into Toys R Us and asked for one, the black girl had a weird expression on her face when I asked and she pulled one out. I was thinking no way I get one and went home with my blue box. What a great era... but I gotta admit the truth, PS2 was garbage until 2001.

PSone to PS2 graphics was a generation leap. Rest of the PlayStations followed looks essentially the same.. Which I believe why the PS2 outsold any other PlayStation to this day
