Samples are treated a bit differently. The samples are detected by a program used to identify other songs. Even if the sample was made to sound nothing like the original, it will still be flagged. I did recognize the melody but didn't think of the sample so it should've been written in the credits as one. Imagine people singing your well known melody but not being able to refer to you in credits (with no royalties). I wish that was handled better because I enjoy the sample, but she could've used naughty girl, baby boy, green light. I thought the sample was an interpolation of Naughty Girl originally.

She had a point regardless of how small it seems to us. Kelis was pimped for her music and doesn’t want P or Chad to benefit from her anymore than they can. If this would’ve turned into a TikTok trend and she would get no residuals or credit outside of being the performer of the original song.

@@KeithBeeznah because if she didn’t say anything she would’ve stayed listed as a writing credit on the song(which was not required since she didn’t write on milkshake) and made something from it, since she got removed(since she was only unnecessarily credited for inspiring the la la las) she’s making nothing I presume while Pharrell’s name is still on the track and still getting residuals for actually writing on milkshake (the drum line is sampled I believe).
She could put her own sample of Lose My Breath as a replacement
