Jordan Peele's GetOut has a major influence on The Invitation. Jessica M. Thompson is inspired, but as they say no idea is original. There is nothing new under the sun. I look forward to this feature film.

After seeing these trailers I can only conclude that the movie industry is in for Hard Times. Amazing how Hollywood is constantly making movies that no one wants to see. And they took a wonderful premise Queen nasinga at least I assume it's Queen the nazinga just got to love that talk to text.

I think it will be a great film and is based on real events but to see them spouting off about their freedom in the trailer was kinda rich...Dahomey was one of the richest kingdoms in Africa but their whole economy was based on capturing and selling slaves most of which ended up being sold to the Americas...

Interesting, varied selection. Only a couple of sequels (praise be!!), and very little of the usual formulaic claptrap churned out by Hollywood in recent years. I don’t know how many of these will be good but there seem to be a lot of fresh-ish ideas so kinda encouraging.
I only saw a couple of original ideas, and one of those was based on actual events. Overall, it's mostly garbage as usual.

Old man but still naive. True events are the people who was physically there and then you get your hollywood version of "true events", always the fact truth being twisted.

The movie is about African historical events. The title of the movie is a translation of the epithet of the main character.
Its actually African traditional history. In real history the Dahomey "Amazons" were woefully inept in combat. In their final battle against the French they lost 417 and the French lost 6. The fighting was mostly hand-to-hand combat.

The first one I am kind of looking forward too, because I heard that the Dora Milaje’ was inspired by actual warriors. Unfortunately with how movies are seeming to get worse with quality it might ruin their legacy.

Doesn't look like they are mentioning that the "heros" were a culture that grew due to their participation in the trans atlantic slave trade and that the evil people fought to make them stop. That was the "freedom" they took away, the freedom to take and profit from slavery.
And plus they are black women, so we know the story is bullshit. Only thing they are good at is filing for child support and texting with really, really, really long nails. Wait, they are good at appropriating white culture too, by living in houses instead of mud huts and wearing clothes. Racists!

Well I was all in line to agree with you, but after watching this whole vid, I'm fairly optimistic. I think I only saw 2 sequels, which in itself is pretty remarkable considering there were about 15 trailers. I like original movies cuz they are taking more of a risk, instead of just copying a movie & stamping "2" behind it. Idk, guess we'll see.
Only movie I’m exited for is Avatar 2. It took James Cameron 10 years to get the right camera technology for underwater. The only sequel I’m exited for

The Little Things was a bit boring & a disappointment but his acting was good.
Can't help but think that, if I were F. Copolla, O. Stone or M. Mann, I wouldn't stop throwing up looking at these trailers. These movies are so far from what the audience wants to watch, that they all must think that the US movie industry is now utterly, completely dead without any hope of redeeming itself! It's gone way too far as afar the total absence of talent is concerned.
It seems like most audiences these days don't watch movies for actual substance and storytelling. They seem okay with mediocracy as long as they see recognizable faces

I was wondering how long it would take Hollywood to shit on Mozart. The Queen of the Nights Aria has been way too popular in recent years, so I knew it was coming. I don’t know why they have to try and make a movie out of an Opera. There’s still plenty of plays they haven’t completely destroyed.
I don't mind this one, since Mozart wrote it to spite the Italians who claimed opera could not be written in German, and did so in a playful way, while writing the most complex vocals EVER.
