      Dick Van Dyke is my favorite; I haven't seen any of the others and I've never heard a pure cockney accent, so I'd never be able to tell the difference, anyhow. How about TV characters (Kraus in the so-so sit-com "Benson," some of the accents on shows like "Dukes of Hazard")? i don't watch much TV any more, so I don't know today's shows, but I'm sure they're there.

      you guys should do a video about actors attempting a specific accent while in the presence of another actor that is from that region. For example: Catherine Zeta-Jones vs Antonio Banderas in Mask of Zorro, both characters are from Mexican-Spanish decent, and Antonio is actually Spanish, and Catherine does a flawless Spanish-accent

    As an Italian woman, the language is difficult and it depends on the dialect. Each part of Italy has a different dialect. Its quite tricky.

    • @Lon.BedStuyforLife
      @Lon.BedStuyforLife Рік тому

      I completely agree. It is the same in America. As a black woman, born and raised in NYC, I can attest that pinpointing where someone is from by listening to them speak can be tricky at best.
      When many people think of about northeastern American accents, their minds immediately go to the American-Italian accent or the "Boston" accent -- the accents we are most associate with in movies. However, it isn't that cut-and-dry. Many fail to understand that everyone born and raised in this region of the U.S. is not Italian or Irish, and so northeastern-American accents actually has an EXTREMELY wide group of "New York accents". There really is no one-size-fits-all here. There is not ONE "American accent" - we have more than a few!
      So, @marvelfan8996 I understand what you are saying. My country's primary language is English (obviously); however, as you move throughout the U.S. the dialect changes -- in many cases, drastically. It is a tricky topic. Personally, I wouldn't touch this topic unless I was a linguist or some other professional in the language and speech area. Over my many years, I've seen accent portrayals from actors/actresses ranging from outstanding to cringe-worthy, but I will say that they all did their best -- after all, "accent-acting" takes a lot of work and is HARD AS EFF!!!"

    I have lived in four different southern states, as well as in many other parts of the US, and have lived with a lot of different accents. It is very rare to hear an actor pull off any believable southern accent. Many of them sound like cartoons, and not in a good way. I'll add Florence Pugh as Yelena. But only from the Black Widow movie. Her accent was so hammy, it's adorable.
    But her accent in the Hawkeye show was just flatly bad. I love Yelena but I think Pugh should just settle with an American accent from now on. Or practice Russian with a dialect coach.

    Another French accent I didn't care for was Ewan McGregor as Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast. NO ONE will ever touch Jerry Orbach's Lumiere. I learned my French accent from listening to him voice the character so well. Do I think my accent is perfect? No. But I still convinced my choir teacher when I was 15 that I was the right person to deliver his monologue at the beginning of a medley of songs from the movie we were going to perform at our spring concert my freshman year of hs. This was before the medley was switched to Godspell by our student teacher we would gain shortly after I nailed my audition for the original medley. I was not familiar with the material from Godspell, so did not get that audition. Still waiting for a way when I can use my French accent in a performance.

    I thought Gaga as Patrizia Reggiani was very accurate to the real Patrizia, she never had the typical italian accent to begin with and i think this is where everyone thought its "bad", the other casts though were bad I agree, With Leto however i fully agree its so bad that its good!

    Not so bad that they 're good. Not so bad. haha
